Job summary

GovTech Singapore is seeking an Engineering Manager / Staff Software Engineer to guide technical direction and delivery for high-availability systems. You will shape architecture across the stack, lead teams, and drive cloud-enabled transformation in the public sector.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with cross-functional partners, and help recruit senior talent while championing engineering excellence and public good.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of development experience and 2+ years of coaching developers.
• Hands-on across the full stack: infrastructure, client side, backend, data, and performance.
• Experience building and maintaining large, high-availability systems.
• Proficiency with Agile, CI/CD, TDD, and modern front-end (Next.js/React) and Java/TypeScript back-ends.

Responsibilities

• Define engineering vision and roadmap aligned with organizational goals.
• Stay current with industry developments; architect, engineer, and maintain systems.
• Lead implementation of Bespoke, COTS, SaaS solutions including ServiceNow, Dynamics; leverage cloud technologies.
• Partner with stakeholders to plan roadmaps and deliver product increments efficiently.
• Develop technical plans and roadmaps; mentor engineers and drive performance growth.
• Drive quality, reliability and security strategies within the team.
• Identify and initiate engineering initiatives to maximize impact for public good.
• Establish practices and tools to foster strong engineering culture and effectiveness.
• Assist with recruitment, including senior hires.
