Onsite Plant IT Field Technician — Hands-On Support

Job summary

Astreya is seeking an IT generalist to be the onsite technical presence for a group of manufacturing plants in Singapore. You will be the first hands and eyes on everything from workstations to a server rack, a label printer on the line, or an RFID reader at the dock door.

You will support maintenance windows, triage incidents, and collaborate with regional teams. The role requires hands-on hardware, OS tasks, and strong communication with plant staff.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on IT support experience in onsite/field roles.
• Broad IT environment knowledge: end-user devices, Windows Server, basic Linux, printers, hardware break-fix, and basic network troubleshooting.
• Comfort with data center/server-room hardware: racking, cabling, component swaps and vendor procedures.
• Structured, engineering-minded approach to problem solving with hypothesis testing and documentation.
• Strong judgement on escalation timing and clear stakeholder communication during outages.

Responsibilities

• Onsite support and break-fix for workstations, servers, printers, and basic network connectivity.
• Diagnose and resolve issues across plant IT, including IoT devices and RFID-related tech.
• Perform hardware checks, swaps, cabling, and guided troubleshooting for remote teams.
• Travel to other plants in the region for coverage and project support.
• Escalate to infrastructure teams, vendors, and OEMs with clear symptom summaries and business impact.
• Maintain site playbooks, CMDB records, inventories, and diagrams for quick support.
• Participate in maintenance windows, power outages, and disaster recovery activities.
