Job summary

IFCHOR GALBRAITHS (IG) in Singapore seeks a Junior Panamax Broker to join the Dry Cargo Division. You will support day-to-day broking activity, monitor vessel positions and cargo requirements, and build relationships with shipowners, charterers and operators.

Responsibilities

• Support the Panamax desk across daily chartering enquiries, negotiations and broking activity.

• Identify opportunities to match cargo requirements with vessel availability.
• Communicate with shipowners, charterers, operators and market participants to gather information and develop relationships.
• Assist with commercial negotiations and progression from enquiry to fixture.
• Use market platforms and data to identify opportunities and support market intelligence.
• Collaborate with IG's international offices and broking network.
• Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients.
• Progressively take greater responsibility for opportunities and client relationships.

About the Role

We are looking for a Junior Panamax Broker to join our Dry Cargo Division in Singapore.

This is an opportunity for an ambitious, commercially minded individual to develop a career within an established Panamax broking desk, gaining practical experience in global dry bulk markets, chartering and commercial negotiations.

Working alongside experienced brokers, you will support day-to-day broking activity, monitor vessel positions and cargo requirements, follow freight market developments and build relationships with shipowners, charterers, operators and other market participants.

You will progressively develop your understanding of Panamax trading patterns, major dry bulk commodities and international trade flows, while building the commercial judgement, negotiation skills and market knowledge needed to take greater responsibility for business and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

Essential

• A minimum of 12 months' professional experience in shipping, shipbroking,chartering, dry bulk, commodities, logistics, trading or a related commercia lrole.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective professional relationships.
• A genuine interest in shipping, commodities, international trade and global markets.

Qualifications and Additional Experience

• A degree or relevant qualification in shipping, maritime studies, logistics,business, economics, finance, international trade or a related discipline ispreferred.
• Previous direct Panamax broking experience is advantageous but not essential.
