Job summary

STTGDC, headquartered in Singapore, is seeking a Research & Development Intern to explore emerging technologies and contribute to innovation across its digital infrastructure portfolio.

You will gain exposure to market intelligence, technology trials, and knowledge management while developing research, analytical, and stakeholder management skills. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners on sustainability and efficiency projects within STTGDC's global operations.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Data Analytics, Sustainability, Technology, or a related discipline.
• Strong interest in data centres, digital infrastructure, sustainability, emerging technologies, and the digital economy.
• Good research, analytical, communication, presentation, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Self-motivated, detail‑oriented, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

As a Research & Development Intern, you will support the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies that enhance data centre performance, resilience, sustainability, and operational efficiency. Working with cross‑functional teams and industry partners, you will contribute to research, market intelligence, innovation initiatives, and strategic technology projects across STT GDC's digital infrastructure portfolio.

This internship offers valuable exposure to the data centre and digital infrastructure industry while developing your research, analytical, problem‑solving, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. You will gain insights into data centre operations, emerging technologies, sustainability, and project management, with opportunities to participate in data centre learning journeys, EHS site visits, and training programmes, subject to availability.

Technology Research and Evaluation

• Conduct market scans, literature reviews, and benchmarking studies on emerging data centre technologies, including AI, robotics, quantum computing, liquid cooling, energy storage, sustainability solutions, digital twins, water technologies, and next‑generation power infrastructure.
• Assess technical, operational, commercial, sustainability, and regulatory implications, and present findings through reports, presentations, and briefing materials.

Proof‑of‑Concept and Innovation Support

• Assist in planning, executing, and documenting technology trials, pilots, and proof‑of‑concept projects.
• Support the development of business cases, feasibility studies, technology roadmaps, and post‑trial assessments.

Documentation and Knowledge Management

• Maintain research records, project documentation, technology reviews, and knowledge‑sharing materials.
• Ensure information is organised, accessible, and clearly presented.

Stakeholder Engagement and General Support

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external partners, including vendors, universities, research institutes, and industry stakeholders.
• Support reporting, KPI tracking, budgeting, workflow improvements, and project coordination activities.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Data Analytics, Sustainability, Technology, or a related discipline.
• Strong interest in data centres, digital infrastructure, sustainability, emerging technologies, and the digital economy.
• Good research, analytical, communication, presentation, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Comfortable working across multiple teams and translating technical findings into practical business insights.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365. Familiarity with data analysis, dashboarding, visualisation tools, AI‑enabled productivity tools, engineering, sustainability, finance, investment analysis, or technology research would be advantageous.
• Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and eager to learn in a fast‑paced environment.
