Job description

Job De ion & Requirements

The Interface Manager serves as the central site-level link managing technical, logistical, and operational interfaces across the complex CARP and CAPEX projects. This role ensures that new system installations (CAPEX) and critical brownfield system refurbishments (CARP) align perfectly with ongoing civil works, architectural constraints, and operational environments without service disruption.

Job Responsibilities
Technical & Design Interface Management
  • Act as the primary on-site conduit between the MHI Engineering Team in Japan and local stakeholders, translating complex technical design requirements into actionable site implementation plans.
  • Collaborate closely with CAG's Civil and Architectural Consultants to ensure structural modifications, cable containment, and spatial provisions seamlessly accommodate MHI's new and refurbished subsystems.
  • Facilitate interface matrix alignment across all major project scopes, including new vehicles, Power Supply Distribution (PSD), Platform Screen Doors (PDS), Signalling, Communications and Guideway Track Infrastructure.
Stakeholder Coordination & Alignment
  • Serve as the technical interface point-of-contact for Changi Airport Group (CAG) and their appointed consultants, driving the timely review and approval of Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Serve as PIC for work permits (using CAG's inhouse portal/system) for all MHI and MHI subcon works.
  • Coordinate directly with CAG's third-party main contractors and MHI's designated subcontractors to eliminate spatial clashes, scheduling conflicts, and execution overlap at the site office.
  • Organize and chair regular on-site Interface Coordination Meetings to resolve cross-package technical conflicts, tracking open items through an updated Interface Register
Site Installation & Asset Modernisation Support
  • Brownfield Refurbishment (CARP) Coordination: Carefully plan interface schedules for brownfield refurbishments (such as PSD modifications and signaling upgrades) to ensure zero impact on the live, daily operations of the existing Skytrain system.
  • Capacity Expansion (CAPEX) Readiness: Oversee the structural and electrical readiness of the site prior to the delivery, installation, and integration of new vehicles and expanded infrastructure.
  • Verify Testing & Commissioning (T&C) Boundaries: Assist the T&C teams in defining interface testing boundaries, ensuring all interconnected systems operate cohesively during local integration testing.
Documentation, Quality & Risk Management
  • Own the Interface Register: Maintain, track, and regularly update the project's Master Interface Register, proactively escalating critical design or installation bottlenecks to the MHI Site Project Manager.
  • Manage Requests for Information (RFIs): Review, filter, and track site RFIs from subcontractors and CAG's contractors, ensuring technical queries requiring input from MHI Japan are routed and resolved expeditiously.
  • Change Control Awareness: Identify potential scope creep or design changes arising from site interface issues, documenting them to support MHI's project management team in variations and risk mitigation.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. Diploma candidates with suitable experience can be considered
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in installation projects for AGT, LRT, APM or MRT systems.
  • Native level of Japanese writing and speaking to liaise with Japan counterparts (JLPT N1) is a must as liaising with Japanese internal counterparts and external suppliers is necessary.
  • Proven track record of holding a similar interface management role within the last 5 years, with demonstrated experience coordinating, analysing, and resolving systems for APM/AGT/LRT/MRT projects in Singapore
  • Direct experience in the installation management of MHI's Crystal Mover APM System is advantageous (or similar APM systems), alongside a deep technical understanding of installation works for APM/AGT/LRT/MRT projects
  • Professional proficiency in operating AutoCAD
  • Highly proficient in standard Windows operating environments and the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proven ability to develop a clear vision/plan, manage resources and delegate tasks efficiently to achieve project milestones.
  • Dynamic presenter with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in active listening, questioning, and probing techniques, with the ability to articulate complex technical ideas, opinions, and judgments clearly and confidently to multiple stakeholders.
  • Experienced in working collaboratively across internal divisions and building strong professional relationships with client representatives (CAG), consultants, and contractors.
  • Flexibly adapts to design changes and site challenges; possesses the ability to work calmly under pressure and exercise good engineering judgment.
  • Strong commitment to the job with a proven track record of consistently delivering results and achieving time-sensitive project goals.
