Job summary

Google’s Hardware Operations team oversees cutting-edge data center infrastructure. The Operations Technician role involves installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining hardware and server software, with emphasis on networks, routers, and switches within Google's Linux cluster.

You’ll lead small projects, document troubleshooting steps, and support AI/infrastructure initiatives across Googlers and Cloud customers.

Qualifications

Experience in hardware/OS, coding and scripting or networking domains.
Experience with troubleshooting and diagnosing computer, server, and network hardware.
Experience with data center infrastructure: mechanical, electrical or similar.
Experience with meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting utilizing standard hand tools, digital metering, or calibration/diagnostic equipment.
Experience with troubleshooting hardware/network issues using Linux tools.
Ability to lift 50 lbs of equipment, and work on platforms, ladders, and under raised floors.

Responsibilities

Monitor the robotic system's performance, checking for error messages and malfunction signs.
Understand Preventive Maintenance procedures and schedules for tier 1 technicians.
Diagnose and troubleshoot software/hardware issues and document repairs.
Install robot operating software and ensure compatibility with data center environments.
Collaborate with data center staff, robotics professionals, and security personnel to align operations.
