Job summary

Google is seeking an Operations Technician in Singapore to install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain servers and related hardware, including networking components. You will work with data center teams on projects and participate in or lead small teams during installations.

Ideal candidates have hands-on server hardware experience, Linux-based troubleshooting skills, understanding of networking concepts, and are able to work non-standard hours while performing physical tasks such as

Qualifications

• Experience assembling and repairing computer systems and component-level hardware.

• Physical ability to lift 50 lb and perform repeated manual tasks.
• Willingness to work non-standard hours, including weekends and night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and operate data center infrastructure across projects or teams (e.g. Machine Learning platforms, network architecture).
• Report issues and follow data center procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose moderately complex issues with equipment or infrastructure as they arise, and identify the resources needed to resolve identified issues.
• Diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, and infrastructure based on identified issues with multiple solutions, independently. Independently execute advanced operational procedures as part of daily work activities and follow security policies and processes.
• Shift work is required to meet evolving business needs and operational schedules.
• Collaborate with the partner teams (e.g., Program Managers, Data Center Operations, and Software and Hardware Engineers) to complete tasks, and to elevate and resolve defined problems.

Job description

Minimum qualifications

• Experience with assembly of computer systems component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.
• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting one of the following: operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols.
• Experience with networking protocols.
• Ability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) of equipment and ability to exert yourself physically over extended periods of time, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling and lifting.
• Ability to work non-standard hours, including working weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules as required.

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience demonstrating proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and network issues using Linux tools (e.g., LPIC-1, CCNA, or equivalent industry certifications/experience).
• Experience working within a data center or network operation center environment.
• Experience in maintenance of server and storage systems.
• Understanding of networking concepts, including topology and protocols.
• Ability to communicate in English fluently to support client relationship management in this region.
