Job summary

PaxOcean in Singapore is seeking a dedicated HSE Officer to manage safety logistics aboard vessels, ensuring compliance with permit to work systems and emergency readiness.

The role involves conducting atmospheric gas checks in confined spaces, routine inspections, and promoting safe work practices among shipbuilding crews. The position requires shift flexibility and a proactive safety mindset to maintain vessel readiness.

Qualifications

• Preferred experience in ship building and ship repairing environments.
• Experience in emergency response and firefighting.
• Physically fit and healthy.
• Computer illiterate.
• Able to perform shift duties.

Responsibilities

• Daily checks on vessel and surrounding work locations to enforce safety requirements.
• Engage workforce to promote safe work practices and fire prevention.
• Participate in emergencies by performing firefighting, rescue, and pollution control.

• Prepare and arrange all relevant HSE logistics i.e., fire box, Coordination tag boards etc. prior to vessel arrival and secure all HSE related items upon completion of refit.
• To carry out atmospheric gas checks for all the confined spaces as per mandatory requirement.
• To ensure the readiness of emergency related equipment’s onboard the vessel.
• To carry out regular inspections for all work activities onboard the vessel.
• To ensure all requirements as indicated within Permit to work system are complied with.

Key Responsibilities

• Daily checks onboard assigned vessel and surrounding work locations to enforce on mandatory and in-house requirements.
• Participate and engage workforce in promoting safe work practices, accident & fire prevention program.
• To participate in emergency situation by performing firefighting, rescue of personnel & pollution control.

Key Requirements

• Preferably with relevant experience in the ship building and ship repairing industry.
• Relevant experience in emergency response and firefighting.
• Physically fit and healthy.
• Computer illiterate.
• Able to perform shift duties.
