An international educational institution in Singapore seeks a Head of Performance - Basketball to lead its Dover campus basketball programme. The role involves designing, delivering, and monitoring programs for students and the community. Candidates should have at least 7 years of coaching experience, strong leadership skills, and a National coaching qualification. UWCSEA has a vacancy for a Head of Performance - Basketball for its Dover campus to start from August 2026 or earlier if possible.
Reporting to the Head of Basketball, The Head of Performance is a key member of the UWC Dover Basketball Programme and is responsible for the design, delivery and monitoring of the School, After School and Phoenix Club Programme. The Head of Performance will work alongside the Head of Basketball, to implement a world‑class coaching programme aimed to develop a strong School, After School and Phoenix Club basketball development pathway from infant to high school and beyond. The Head of Performance will be responsible for the on‑court and off‑court management of the coaching team for all basketball competitive programmes, and will also be involved in all coaching duties where required.
The role requires strong leadership of the:
Planning and implementation of a broad, inclusive and varied, year‑long Competitive and Performance Basketball Programme for students, staff & the wider UWCSEA & Singapore community.
Lead the Competitive Coaching team, ensuring all coaches are working to the highest level and following all coaching expectations and procedures. This includes leading and monitoring of external providers.
Coach with the School Teams, After School Activities and Phoenix Basketball Club (Development / Competitive) including weekday/weekend, local and overseas competition and holiday programmes whereas needed.
Prioritise safeguarding and health and safety policies are applied in all related programmes.
Lead the implementation of student Assessment & Feedback systems in all related programmes.
Assist the Head of Basketball with the administration of the Basketball Programme.
Qualification
National body coaching qualification – Level 3 or Equivalent National Coaching Award, Certified First Aider (Standard First Aid Certification preferred).
Good written and spoken English.
Child safeguarding.
Experience
At least 7 years of coaching experience working with both development‑level and competitive‑level basketball players.
Proven experience in managing and executing large‑scale basketball programmes, including leadership and coordination of coaching teams.
In‑depth knowledge of basketball training systems, coaching theories, and evidence‑based practice methodologies.
Demonstrated ability to design and implement performance measurement systems, with expertise in various data collection and analysis methods to assess the effectiveness of both development and high‑performance programmes.
Skills
Excellent communication skills.
To demonstrate a commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of students and members of the UWCSEA community.
An appropriate approach to age‑group training (LTAD) focusing on the College Skill & qualities, technical competence, motivation, enjoyment, team‑building and long‑term success.
Strong interpersonal, organisational, written and oral communication skills.
Able to work cohesively in a team‑based environment as well as independently and passionate about working with children from K1 to G12.
An ability to develop relationships based on mutual respect.
