Job description

A leading organization is seeking an experienced Insurance specialist to lead the Group Insurance function and oversee the organisation's corporate insurance strategy and programmes across local and overseas operations. Reporting to the Finance function, this role will work closely with senior stakeholders across Legal, Finance, Group Risk, Procurement, HR, Investment/M&A, Cyber/IT and business units across the region.

The role will have end-to-end responsibility for the Organization's insurance plans and renewals, including gathering and assessing underwriting information, negotiating competitive premiums and enhancing coverage while minimising risk gaps. You will also oversee the procurement and placement of local and overseas insurance policies, including locally admitted programmes, and conduct insurance risk assessments to identify exposures, evaluate adequacy of coverage and recommend improvements to the overall insurance programme.

You will manage the full insurance lifecycle, including policy administration, premium review and allocation, broker selection and management, insurance databases and claims. The role will also provide specialist advice on insurance, indemnification and related contractual provisions, as well as assess insurance implications arising from RFPs, new business ventures, M&A, financing transactions and other strategic initiatives. This includes supporting insurance due diligence and relevant site inspections, as well as resolving and negotiating claims with brokers and insurers.

In addition, you will lead the annual insurance budgeting process and serve as a key advisor to the business on emerging insurance risks and appropriate coverage solutions. The position requires strong collaboration across multiple functions and geographies, with the ability to influence stakeholders and navigate complex commercial insurance matters.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be a degree holder with at least 10 years of relevant experience in non-life commercial and corporate insurance, with strong expertise in complex Property & Casualty and Financial Lines policy wordings. Prior experience with an insurance broker or insurance company is highly desirable, alongside demonstrated experience in procuring and arranging insurance programmes across overseas markets.

Strong negotiation, stakeholder management and commercial skills are essential, together with a hands-on and proactive approach suited to a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with insurance market practices across Southeast Asia, particularly China, Vietnam and Thailand, will be advantageous. Due to stakeholders involved, the ability to read Chinese business documents and fluency in spoken and written Mandarin would be an added advantage.
