The Opportunity

Industry: Commodities Trading / Physical Goods Trading (e.g., Metals, Energy, Agri-products)

We are working with a dynamic boutique commodities trading firm to hire a Finance Executive with a strong background in accounting for inventory-based or physical goods industries. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with solid experience in handling high-value, multi-currency transactions and a working understanding of compliance and confidentiality requirements in a fast-paced trading environment.

You will play a key role in supporting finance operations, trade settlements, and certain HR/Admin responsibilities. This position offers extensive exposure to cross-functional activities within a global trading business.

The Job

Accounting & Finance

  • Manage the full set of accounts (AR, AP, GL) including month-end closing
  • Prepare financial reports, journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, GST preparation, and submission
  • Handle high-value transactions (in the millions of USD), ensuring accuracy across multiple currencies
  • Support external audits and coordinate with auditors, tax agents, and banks

Trade Finance & Settlement

  • Oversee trade documentation to ensure timely and accurate settlement
  • Liaise with counterparties, brokers, and international banks
  • Assist with Letter of Credit (LC) applications and related coordination
  • Ensure the integrity of trade-related accounting entries, including inventory movements and trade margins

Compliance & Administrative Duties

  • Support KYC, NDA processes, and compliance with confidentiality protocols
  • Handle sensitive financial information and documentation with discretion
  • Participate in internal controls and data privacy practices
  • Provide light HR support (onboarding, documentation) and office admin support
The Talent
  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience, including:
    • 1-2 years of full set or GL accounting
    • Prior exposure to commodities trading or physical goods industries (e.g., oil & gas, agri, metals)
    • Experience managing multi-currency, high-value transactions
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks)
    • Strong command of written and spoken English for cross-border communication
    • Familiarity with trade finance instruments such as LCs and bank guarantees
    • Ability to manage confidential and compliance-sensitive matters
    • Flexible, hands-on, and willing to support multi-functional tasks
