Job summary

JDA WMS Pte Ltd is seeking a Field Service Engineer to provide on-site technical support, installation, maintenance, and repair for scientific and laboratory equipment across labs, healthcare, and research settings.

You will install, commission, and service equipment, diagnose faults, and generate detailed service reports. Travel to customer sites and collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely resolution of issues.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of experience as Field Service Engineer or similar customer-facing technical role.
• Experience servicing, installing, maintaining or troubleshooting scientific/lab equipment preferred.
• Ability to read technical drawings, schematics and service documentation.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are looking for a Field Service Engineer to provide on-site technical support, installation, maintenance, and repair services for scientific and laboratory equipment. The successful candidate will ensure equipment operates efficiently while delivering high-quality technical support to customers across laboratories, healthcare, and research environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and repair of scientific and laboratory equipment at customer sites.

• Diagnose equipment faults and perform troubleshooting to minimise downtime and restore normal operations.

• Conduct routine inspections, calibration checks, and preventive servicing to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with operational standards.

• Prepare service reports, maintenance records, and technical documentation accurately after each service visit.

• Provide technical advice and user guidance to customers regarding equipment operation and basic maintenance.

• Coordinate with internal teams to resolve technical issues and ensure timely completion of service requests.

• Maintain service tools, spare parts inventory, and equipment required for field operations.

• Respond promptly to breakdown calls and support emergency service requirements when necessary.

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Field Service Engineer, Service Engineer, Technician, or in a similar customer-facing technical support role.

• Experience in servicing, installing, maintaining, or troubleshooting scientific, laboratory, manufacturing, healthcare, or industrial equipment is preferred.

• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systems, with the ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and service documentation.

• Candidates with experience in cryogenic systems are preferred.

• Familiarity with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) will be an advantage.

• Possess a valid driving licence and be willing to travel regularly to customer sites.

• Physically fit to handle field service activities, including lifting equipment, climbing ladders or scaffolding, and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Good communication, troubleshooting, and customer service skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
