Job summary

Barrington James is seeking a Field Service Engineer for a leading Global Life Science Laboratory Instruments MNC. The role is on-site at designated customer sites in Singapore with non-shift, regular office hours except in emergencies.

You will diagnose and repair automated laboratory equipment, perform preventive maintenance, train customers, and document service activities while coordinating with regional engineering teams as needed.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation, Electronics or related technical discipline.
• 1–3 years of Field Service Engineering or technical service experience, preferably in lab or life sciences settings.
• Experience with laboratory automation, robotics, sensors or complex software OS is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot & Repair: diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, electronic and automation issues.
• Preventive Maintenance: perform calibration, inspections and servicing for reliability.
• Customer Support: provide on-site technical support and user guidance.
• Service Documentation: maintain service reports and escalate to regional/global teams as needed.
• Customer Query: address concerns promptly with the customer and end-users.

Core Responsibilities:

• Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, electronic and automation-related equipment issues.
• Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, calibration, inspections and system servicing to ensure equipment reliability.
• Customer Support: Provide on-site technical support, training and guidance to customers and laboratory users.
• Service Documentation: Maintain accurate service reports, maintenance records and technical documentation, while escalating complex technical issues to regional or global engineering teams.
• Customer Query: Address Customer and End-Users concerns in a prompt manner

Desired Skillsets:

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Electronics or a related technical discipline.
• 1 to 3 years of Field Service Engineering or technical service experience, preferably supporting laboratory, life sciences or automated equipment.
• Experience working with laboratory automation, robotics, sensors, complex software OS or other complex equipment would be highly advantageous.
