Job summary

Addcel Engineering in Singapore is seeking an ACMV Design Engineer to lead the complete design and engineering of ACMV systems from concept through detailed design and project handover.

You will develop layouts, perform calculations, coordinate with other disciplines, review drawings, and ensure compliance with local codes and safety standards while delivering cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum 3 years of ACMV design and engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of full ACMV system from concept to installation and operation.

Responsibilities

• Design ACMV systems from concept to detailed design and project implementation.
• Develop ACMV layouts, schematics, single-line diagrams, and equipment schedules.
• Coordinate ACMV with structural, electrical, and other disciplines.
• Perform cooling load, heat load, ventilation calculations and duct/pipe sizing.
• Review specifications, tender drawings, and consultant drawings for ACMV scope.
• Provide technical support to project and site teams and resolve issues.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure installations meet approved designs.
• Ensure compliance with Singapore codes, standards, and safety requirements.

Job Description

• Responsible for the complete design and engineering of ACMV systems, from initial design concept through to detailed design and project implementation.
• Develop and coordinate complete ACMV systems, including air-conditioning, mechanical ventilation, chilled water systems, ductwork, piping, pumps, AHU, FCU, cooling towers, chillers, exhaust systems, fresh air systems, and associated equipment.
• Perform ACMV engineering calculations including cooling load, heat load, ventilation requirements, air quantity, duct sizing, pipe sizing, pump head, pressure loss, equipment capacity, and system balancing.
• Develop practical and cost-effective ACMV design solutions based on project requirements, site conditions, specifications, and applicable standards.
• Prepare and review ACMV layouts, schematics, single-line diagrams, detailed drawings, equipment schedules, and technical submissions.
• Review project specifications, tender drawings, design requirements, and consultant drawings to ensure complete understanding of the ACMV scope.
• Coordinate ACMV systems with structural, architectural, electrical, piping, fire protection, and other engineering disciplines.
• Ensure proper system integration, equipment arrangement, accessibility, maintenance requirements, and constructability.
• Review shop drawings, technical submissions, material proposals, and engineering calculations.
• Provide technical support to project and site teams and resolve design, coordination, and installation issues.
• Conduct site inspections and verify that ACMV installations are in accordance with approved designs and project requirements.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal project teams on technical and design matters.
• Assist with testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, balancing, and handover of ACMV systems.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant Singapore codes, standards, authority requirements, project specifications, and safety requirements.
• Take ownership of assigned design work and ensure engineering deliverables are completed accurately and within project timelines.
  

To be a good fit, you would possess these qualities and skills

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant ACMV design and engineering experience.
• Must have strong and comprehensive knowledge of the full ACMV system, from design concept and calculations through to installation, testing, commissioning, and operation.
• Strong understanding of chilled water systems, air-conditioning systems, mechanical ventilation, fresh air systems, exhaust systems, ductwork, chilled water piping, pumps, AHU, FCU, chillers, cooling towers, and associated ACMV equipment.
• Able to independently carry out ACMV design calculations, equipment selection, system sizing, and technical design development.
• Proficient in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit MEP / BIM will be an advantage.
• Able to read, understand, and interpret MEP drawings, specifications, schematics, and technical documents.
• Familiar with relevant Singapore codes, standards, authority requirements, and ACMV industry practices.
• Experience in semiconductor, data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial projects will be an advantage.
• Strong technical knowledge with good problem-solving and engineering judgement.
• Good coordination and communication skills with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and site teams.
• Able to work independently and take full ownership of design responsibilities.
