Job Summary

The Cook supports the kitchen team in preparing a variety of dishes and ensuring timely service to customers. The role is responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene and safety. The Cook also assists in daily kitchen operations, requisitions and storage of ingredients, and contributes to a clean and organised kitchen environment.


Key Responsibilities


  • Assist chefs in preparing, cooking and presenting dishes according to outlet standards.

  • Ensure all food items are prepared on time and served promptly.

  • Follow food and beverage safety, hygiene and sanitation procedures.

  • Apply quality systems and maintain quality control for all food preparation.

  • Support daily kitchen operations, including ingredient preparation and basic cooking.

  • Receive, inspect and store food supplies in proper conditions.

  • Assist the Head Chef and Cook Supervisor in placing orders for kitchen and bakery items.

  • Maintain a safe, secure and clean working environment in accordance with workplace safety policies.

  • Support productivity and continuous improvement initiatives in the kitchen.

  • Facilitate clear communication and teamwork within the kitchen staff.

  • Identify meat and seafood types and understand their utilisation in menu preparation.

  • Understand Western cuisine, food culture and cooking techniques.

  • Manage simple problem‑solving tasks and make supervisory-level decisions when required.

  • Perform any other ad‑hoc duties assigned.


Job Requirements


  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace safety standards.

  • Ability to follow established kitchen procedures and quality systems.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn and a strong sense of responsibility.

  • Basic understanding of Western culinary techniques is an advantage.

  • Experience in a commercial kitchen environment is preferred.
