Job summary

Takenaka Singapore Pte Ltd is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee multiple projects in Singapore. You will steer conceptual development, organize resources, and manage scheduling and implementation to ensure on-time delivery.

The role requires strong engineering credentials, 15–18 years of industry experience, and the ability to plan, monitor progress, control costs, and coordinate with Project Managers, Architects, and engineers, with Japanese language skills considered

Qualifications

• 15–18 years of relevant construction industry experience.
• Engineering degree or equivalent qualification; master's preferred.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
• Capable of working under stress and meeting deadlines.
• Japanese language skills are advantageous for interaction with the Japan Head Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual development and oversee project organization, scheduling and implementation.
• Plan, lead and monitor progress against the project plan, manage day-to-day operations.
• Control costs to keep projects within approved budgets including materials and manpower.
• Issue timely instructions to address delays or emergencies at sites.
• Review manpower plans and monitor work schedules for smooth delegation.
• Ensure safe and economical methodologies and enforce project standards.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Architects, Engineers and stakeholders to minimise errors.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, authorities and developers on site issues.
• Provide evaluation/findings and project results to HQ Tokyo frequently.

Job description

Duties & Responsibilities

• 1. The Construction Manager shall play a key role in the conceptual development of the various construction projects and oversee its organization, scheduling, and implementation
• 2. He/She will be required to plan, lead and monitor progress and performance against the project plan whilst managing the day-to-day operational aspects of projects which includes manpower planning, construction progress monitoring, preparation of master schedule and cost control
• 3. Responsible for cost management to manage projects within approved budgets, include materials, manpower and machinery cost control for new and running projects
• 4. Responsible for exercising timely instructions to deal with the results of delays, or emergencies at construction project sites
• 5. Reviewing manpower planning and monitoring of work schedules to ensure orderly delegation of jobs and smooth operation.
• 6. Ensure to exercise effectively safe and economical methodology and enforces project standards
• 7. To maintain close collaboration with Project Managers, Architects, Engineers and all stakeholders to minimise errors in the process to achieve smooth completion of projects
• 8. To liaise closely with clients, consultants, sub-contractors, relevant authorities and developers in resolving site issues and authorities compliance issue
• 9. To provide evaluation/findings and project results to HQ Tokyo in Japan on a frequent basis

Requirements

• Minimun 15 - 18 years of relevant working experience within the Construction industry
• Should possess a minimum qualification of Degree/Masters in Engineering or equivalent qualification
• Ability to prioritize tasks well and able to work independently
• Able to work under stress and complete tasks within set deadlines
• Fluency in spoken and written Japanese would be advantageous as the incumbent will be required to communicate and collaborate with Japan Head Office
