Job summary

Etiqa Insurance Singapore is seeking a dynamic Underwriter to join our team. The role focuses on pricing, terms for new business and renewals, and collaboration with actuarial teams across local and regional levels.

Ideal candidates bring at least four years of technical underwriting experience in P&C, Financial Lines and Bond LOB, a Diploma, and possibly an Insurance certification. Proficiency with MS Office is required, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, diverse environment.

• <br/>Diploma in any discipline.
• Insurance certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, determine and recommend pricing and terms for new business and renewals within underwriting authority.
• Collaborate with actuarial teams and perform portfolio analysis as needed.
• Execute underwriting strategies at local and regional levels to grow top and bottom lines.
• Observe and comply with underwriting framework, risk management and regulatory requirements.
• Review non-standard or complex risks and make underwriting decisions within framework.
• Run end-to-end underwriting processes ensuring MAS data entry and accuracy.
• Plan and implement roll-out strategies for online portals.
• Provide technical advice and support to business units in respective class.
• Execute ad hoc projects and initiatives to support growth.

SCOPE OVERVIEW

• Develop, determine and recommend acceptable pricing and terms for new business and renewals in line with the company’s designated underwriting authority levels.
• Work with the actuarial teams and where necessary initiate portfolio analysis for the relevant classes of business and take appropriate action given the results of the analysis conducted.
• Execute Underwriting activities and strategies both at local and regional level to achieve both top and bottom line in accordance with prevailing company’s underwriting and treaty guidelines.
• Observe and comply with all requirements such as Underwriting Framework, Risk Management, Operational Risk, and other compliance and regulatory matters.
• Review non-standard or complex risks submission and make underwriting decisions within the underwriting framework.
• Execute an efficient end to end underwriting process and ensuring that the policies are issued in compliance with underwriting guidelines and MAS requirements on data Entry and Accuracy, underwriting details and acceptance limit.
• Plan and implement roll-out strategies for online portal.
• Provide technical advice and support to business units in the respective class of business.
• Execute, support and implement ad hoc projects &/or business initiatives towards achievement of company’s overall future growth

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• At least 4 years of technical underwriting experience in P&C, Financial Lines and Bond LOB
• At least a Diploma in any discipline
• Insurance certification preferred
• Meticulous, have an eye on detail

• Competent in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
