Job summary

SsangYong Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd is seeking a Civil & Structural Construction Specialist for a large-scale hospital project in Singapore.

You will oversee C&S activities, ensure conformance to drawings and specs, and coordinate with structural consultants and subcontractors. The role requires a degree in civil engineering and at least 3 years of C&S experience, with preference for hospital or healthcare projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant C&S construction experience.
• Experience with large-scale building projects preferred.
• Hospital/healthcare or complex building project experience advantageous.
• Familiarity with Singapore standards and codes.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and BIM tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate C&S construction activities for a hospital project.
• Supervise C&S works to meet drawings, specifications and method statements.
• Review C&S drawings, specifications, calculations and submissions.
• Coordinate with structural consultants, architects, M&E engineers, subcontractors.
• Monitor progress and ensure completion per project programme.
• Supervise foundations, excavation, concrete, steel works.
• Coordinate site activities and resource planning with subcontractors.
• Identify and resolve technical, construction and coordination issues.
• Prepare RFIs, technical queries and site issues responses.
• Review method statements, risk assessments and inspection plans.
• Coordinate inspections, testing and approvals with QA/QC and authorities.
• Monitor workmanship and ensure quality compliance.
• Coordinate with QA/QC on non-conformities and rectifications.
• Assist in reviewing subcontractor submissions and construction methodologies.
• Coordinate interfaces with architectural, M&E and other specialist works.
• Assist in BIM coordination and clash resolution where required.
• Monitor materials, equipment and manpower for C&S works.
• Attend technical, site and coordination meetings; follow up on outstanding matters.
• Prepare progress reports (daily/weekly/monthly) for C&S works.
• Assist in monitoring variations and their impact on construction.
• Coordinate with planning to monitor progress and recovery actions.
• Support testing, completion, defects rectification and handover.
• Provide technical guidance to C&S coordinators and site personnel.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate Civil & Structural (C&S) construction activities for a large-scale hospital construction project.
• Supervise and monitor C&S works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements and project requirements.
• Review C&S drawings, specifications, calculations, shop drawings and technical submissions.
• Coordinate closely with structural consultants, architects, M&E engineers, subcontractors and other project stakeholders.
• Monitor construction progress and ensure C&S works are completed according to the approved project programme.
• Supervise structural works including foundations, excavation, reinforced concrete, structural steel and other related works.
• Coordinate site activities with subcontractors and ensure proper work sequencing and resource planning.
• Identify and resolve technical, construction and coordination issues at site.
• Prepare and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), technical queries and site issues.
• Review method statements, risk assessments, inspection and test plans and other technical documents.
• Coordinate inspections, testing and approvals with consultants, QA/QC personnel and relevant authorities.
• Monitor workmanship and ensure construction works comply with project quality requirements.
• Coordinate with the QA/QC team on inspections, non-conformities and defect rectification.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant C&S construction experience.
• Experience with large-scale building construction projects is preferred.
• Experience in hospital, healthcare, institutional or complex building projects will be an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, structural steel, foundations and general civil/structural construction.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, specifications and technical documents.
• Good knowledge of construction methods, site supervision and engineering coordination.
• Familiarity with Singapore construction standards, codes of practice and statutory requirements.
• Experience coordinating consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, BIM/Revit or other relevant construction software will be an advantage.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and coordination skills.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple site activities under tight project deadlines.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration or relevant professional qualification will be an advantage.
