Job summary

A leading insurance company in Singapore is seeking an individual to develop Property & Casualty and Motor (Broker) business. This role involves managing a panel of intermediaries, underwriting risks, and providing quotations. Candidates should have good interpersonal skills, a degree or diploma, and ideally 1 to 2 years in the Commercial Lines Insurance industry. The ideal applicant must be self-motivated and capable of working under pressure, with excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in the Commercial Lines Insurance industry is preferred.
  • Adequate understanding of underwriting and product technical knowledge.
  • Service-oriented with excellent communication and presentation skills.

Job description
Description
  • Responsible to develop Property & Casualty and Motor (Broker) business.
  • To manage, develop and growth a designated panel of intermediaries by assisting to retain existing business and generate new business opportunities with intermediaries.
  • Underwrite and accept risks within the Underwriting guidelines and acceptance limit.
  • Ensure that both target & underwriting growth are met as set out by Head of Section and /or Head of Department
Key Responsibilities include
  • To provide quotations and negotiate terms with intermediaries to ensure the hit ratio is within satisfactory level.
  • Underwrite and accept risks within delegated authority as specified in Underwriting Guidelines, Treaty and Acceptance Limits to achieve effective implementation of business.
  • To place facultative reinsurance outwards for risks exceeding Treaty capacity, and/or for the purpose of minimizing and spreading risk exposure
  • To secure Special Acceptance approval from Treaty for potential accounts beyond Income’s retention or Treaty’s parameter
  • To assist Motor underwriters in business development for Brokers’ channel.
  • To constantly identify intermediaries with potential / business opportunities and build stronger rapport.
  • To adhere to company rules & regulations, compliance and corporate governance to ensure no breach in daily business activities
  • Carry out market research by soliciting intermediaries' feedback, analyse competitors' packages and quotations, in consultation with Head of Section.
  • To provide technical advice and trainings to intermediaries
  • To assist and work as a team with the Servicing team in securing the renewal accounts as & when required.
  • To assist to recruit and set up new broker account as and when required
  • Submission of instructions including follow-up of documents with Business Processing to ensure that service standard is met
  • Stand-in for administration works if required
  • Assist to backup colleagues if they are not available such as leaves & etc
  • Guide intermediaries on the online Bix system including resolving issues, if any.
  • Undertake other duties or projects assigned by Head of Section &/or Head of Department
