Job summary

MINDEF invites applications for a role overseeing planning, operations, and delivery of live simulation training support for the Army, ensuring systems and facilities achieve required availability and readiness.

You will supervise contractor-delivered training support, manage O&M contracts, lead operations meetings, and drive system enhancements from proposal through testing, with travel overseas as needed.

• Ensure sound governance in safety, security, inventory accountability, contractor performance, and loss and damage investigations.
• Manage the administration of full-time national servicemen within the Centre.
• Support overseas training and exercises when required.

Job description

What the role is:

You will oversee the planning, operations, and delivery of live simulation training support for the Army, ensuring that systems and facilities achieve the required levels of availability and readiness to support effective training outcomes.

What you will be working on:

• Supervise contractor-delivered training support and manage operations and maintenance support contracts for live simulation systems and facilities
• Oversee the operations management of key live training facilities
• Chair regular operations and training support meetings to ensure coordinated and responsive training support delivery
• Drive system enhancements from proposal through testing and acceptance, ensuring improvements are implemented effectively
• Ensure sound governance in safety, security, inventory accountability, contractor performance, and loss and damage investigations
• Manage the administration of full-time national servicemen within the Centre
• Support overseas training and exercises when required

Challenge(s):

• Maintaining high system availability for Army training
• Applying strong domain knowledge of live simulation systems to troubleshoot issues, develop workarounds, and drive timely recovery when performance falls below required standards

What we are looking for:

• Education in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Simulation Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred
• At least 6 years of experience, with qualifications or experience in areas such as networking, wireless communications, system integration or simulation technologies being advantageous
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Strong operations and contract management capabilities
• Ability to manage multiple training systems, facilities, contractors, and stakeholders concurrently
• Ability to understand system performance, diagnose operational issues, and work with technical specialists to develop practical solutions
• Willingness to travel overseas to support training and exercises
