What the role is:
You are responsible for overseeing supply chain operations, including receipt, warehousing, distribution, disposal, repair, and returns, ensuring efficient, secure, and timely material flow. You will also lead a team, drive process optimisation, and enhance resilience, accountability, and cost-effectiveness.
What you will be working on:
- Manage secure warehouse operations for defence equipment and supplies
- Ensure compliance, handle temperature-sensitive materials and maintain real-time inventory control and traceability
- Manage efficient distribution networks to ensure timely and accurate delivery
- Coordinate with transport providers to meet Service Logistics Agreements
- Optimise costs, track performance and respond to urgent supply and emergency deployment needs
- Manage the secure disposal of materials, oversee repair and refurbishment to extend asset life and manage reverse logistics for returns
- Analyse data to drive cost savings and process improvements
- Manage the development and implementation of supply chain strategies and lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage a multidisciplinary team of supply chain professionals, including the development and implementation of training programmes and career development plans to enhance team capability and operational excellence
Challenge(s)
- Managing and maintaining the storage of a wide range of equipment, including electronic systems and sensitive communication gear, each with different storage requirements
- Maintaining accurate records of high-value, high-risk items across multiple locations, particularly where legacy systems or manual processes are in place
- Managing conflicting priorities and expectations among diverse stakeholders, with work taking place concurrently across different locations
- Responding flexibly to urgent operational needs, emergencies, or contingency operations, including the ability to rapidly reconfigure or expand warehouse and distribution capabilities to meet operational demands
What we are looking for:
- At least 6 years of relevant experience in supply chain-related areas such as logistics management and asset stewardship
- Meticulous with a keen eye for detail, particularly in identifying potential non-compliances
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across levels
- Ability to adapt to change, manage competing priorities and drive process improvements
- The role involves a mix of office and warehouse environments, with frequent travel to different locations and may require physical activity such as inspections and inventory checksOnly shortlisted candidates will be notified.
