Our client is seeking a Freight Planning Executive to join their International Freight Forwarding (IFF) team . The role will focus on airfreight capacity planning, airline rate procurement, and operational coordination to ensure shipments are managed efficiently, competitively, and profitably.
You will work closely with airline partners, internal operations teams, and customers to secure capacity, optimise costs, and ensure smooth execution of time-critical airfreight shipments.
Key Responsibilities
Carrier & Capacity Management
- Liaise directly with airlines on space allocation, bookings, and confirmation of cargo capacity.
- Manage BSA (Block Space Agreement) capacity planning and allocation to maximise utilisation and revenue.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with airline partners and act as the key point of contact.
- Monitor and communicate carrier notices, fuel surcharges, tariff changes, and other market updates.
Rate Procurement & Commercial Support
- Source and negotiate competitive airline rates while ensuring sufficient cargo capacity.
- Monitor airline costs, pricing, flight schedules, and available routes.
- Provide up-to-date market rates and carrier options to support the Tender Desk and commercial teams.
- Monitor market conditions and identify opportunities to improve pricing and carrier solutions.
Operational Coordination
- Work closely with Air Export and Operations teams to ensure accurate documentation, electronic data transfer, and invoicing.
- Coordinate and monitor time-sensitive shipments to ensure compliance with customer SLAs.
- Collaborate with Customer Service, Air Export, Operations, and other internal stakeholders to ensure smooth daily booking execution.
- Monitor shipment status and proactively manage delays, capacity constraints, or other operational disruptions.
Reporting & Process Improvement
- Analyse freight and carrier performance and provide insights to support operational and commercial decision-making.
- Support the implementation and ongoing review of internal SOPs and processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflow, productivity, cost efficiency, and service quality.
- Prepare relevant reports and performance updates for management.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in air freight , preferably within a freight forwarding or logistics environment.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Resourceful, proactive, and results-oriented, with the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong coordination and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
- Willingness to take on new challenges and work collaboratively across teams
- Experience using CargoWise .
- Knowledge of airline rate procurement, capacity planning, and BSA management.
- Experience working with airlines, freight forwarders, or other logistics service providers.
