Job summary

Private Advertiser seeks a Food & Nutrition Assistant for a secondary school in Singapore. The role supports two kitchens, prepares ingredients, receives orders, and ensures hygiene and safety during lessons.

Candidates should have PSLE certification and WSQ FSC Level 1, at least 3 years’ experience in FCE/NFS kitchen support, plus basic culinary and math skills, with the ability to work independently or with others. Hours are set with occasional longer days.

Qualifications

• Minimum PSLE qualification required.
• Valid WSQ FSC Level 1 certificate.
• At least 3 years’ experience in FCE/NFS kitchen work at a secondary school.

Responsibilities

• Be present in the Teacher Preparation and two Kitchens during working hours.
• Receive and verify food orders from food suppliers.
• Prepare ingredients and equipment prior to lessons, including portioning.
• Maintain the two Kitchens to uphold high standards of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
• Check and maintain ingredients, materials, equipment and furniture in good condition.
• Conduct inventory and stock-taking of resources.
• Maintain tidiness and cleanliness of the Teacher Preparation Room and two Kitchens.
• Assist NFS Teachers during culinary sessions and guide students in preparation skills.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the NFS Teachers.

Job description

Contract Period: From 1 Jan 2027 to 4 June 2027, 28 June 2027 to 3 Sep 2027 and 10 Sep 2027 to 30 Nov 2027

Option to extend: From 1 Jan 2028 to 2 June 2028, 3 July 2028 to 8 Sep 2028 and 13 Sep 2028 – 30 Nov 2028

Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:

• Mondays to Thursdays: 7.30am to 3.30pm*
• Fridays: 7.30am to 12.30pm*
• Daily working duration includes a lunch break of 1 hour
• Service is not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays

Working hours are subject to changes. On certain days (fewer than 10 days in a year), longer working hours up to 6.30pm may be required.The school will endeavour to provide advance notice where possible.

Requirements:

The Personnel shall minimally have the following qualification, certification, experience and skills:

Qualification:

• Minimum qualification of PSLE Certification:

Experience:

• At least 3 years of relevant working experience as a Food & Consumer Education (FCE) / Nutrition & Food Science (NFS) kitchen assistant at a Secondary School.

The Personnel should have the following skills:

• Basic culinary skills
• Basic mathematical skills e.g. Able to calculate the amounts of ingredients based on a given recipe for up to eight classes of students per level
• Independent and able to work well with others

• Being present in the Teacher Preparation and two Kitchens during working hours.

• Conducting inventory and stock-taking of resources e.g. books, equipment, appliances and utensils.
• Maintaining the general tidiness, orderliness and cleanliness of the Teacher Preparation Room and two Kitchens.
• Assisting the NFS Teachers during culinary sessions including ensuring that students observe safety rules and guiding students in food preparation skills.
• Performing any other duties as assigned by the NFS Teachers.
