Soundlines Consultancy is seeking an experienced Ramp Team Leader to oversee daily airport ramp operations, ensuring safe and timely aircraft turnaround. You will lead ramp agents and loading teams, supervise GSE usage, and ensure compliance with airline loading instructions and safety rules.

The role requires hands-on experience in aircraft handling, strong leadership, and the ability to coordinate shifts in a fast-paced environment at the airport.

  • Ensure proper loading per Load Plan and airline requirements.
  • Complete reports and logs such as LIR and shift checklists.
  • Operate and supervise GSE and report faults promptly.
  • Maintain safety, cleanliness and adherence to SOPs and SLAs.
  • Conduct briefings, allocate duties and manage shift changes.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily ramp operations to ensure safe, efficient and timely aircraft turnaround.
  • Lead ramp agents, GSE operators and loading teams during aircraft arrival and departure activities.
  • Supervise aircraft loading and unloading of baggage, cargo, ULDs, mail, live animals, wheelchairs and special handling items.
  • Ensure aircraft loading is carried out as per approved Load Plan, Loading Instructions and airline requirements.
  • Complete and ensure accurate reporting through Loading Instruction Report (LIR) and other operational records.
  • Marshall aircraft during arrival and departure in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensure baggage and cargo are handled safely and delivered within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Operate and/or supervise the safe use of Ground Support Equipment (GSE), including pushback tractors, belt loaders, container loaders, baggage tugs, GPU, air start units, air stairs, AC units, baggage carts and cargo dollies.
  • Conduct pre-use checks of GSE and ensure defective equipment is immediately reported to the GSE/Maintenance team.
  • Ensure all equipment is safely parked, secured, clean, serviceable and available for operations.
  • Conduct FOD inspections and maintain a clean and safe ramp/apron working environment.
  • Check baggage and cargo for potential hazards in accordance with Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) and applicable procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Swissport, airline/customer, airport authority and aviation safety/security requirements.
  • Conduct shift briefings, allocate duties and communicate operational priorities, schedule changes and anticipated issues to team members.
  • Monitor team performance and ensure employees comply with uniform, PPE, safety and operational requirements.
  • Report aircraft, equipment and operational incidents, accidents and damages in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate shift reports, checklists, inventories and departmental records.
  • Monitor equipment inventory, cleanliness and fueling activities and complete required reports.
  • Coordinate equipment hire-in/hire-out activities and ensure all required documentation is completed.
  • Ensure all services and additional services are accurately recorded in the relevant company systems/platforms.
  • Build effective working relationships with team members, management, airline representatives and airport authorities.
  • Ensure all operations are performed in accordance with SOPs, airline standards, SLAs and airport regulations.
  • Ensure company resources, including manpower and equipment, are utilized efficiently.
  • Perform additional operational duties as assigned by management.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Candidates with previous experience in airport ramp operations, ground handling or aviation operations.
  • Experience as Ramp Team Leader, Ramp Supervisor, Ramp Agent, Duty Officer Ramp or similar airport ground handling role is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in aircraft turnaround, baggage/cargo handling and aircraft loading/unloading.
  • Knowledge of GSE operations and ramp safety procedures.
  • Experience handling ULDs, baggage, cargo, mail and special handling requirements.
  • Knowledge of Load Plan, Loading Instructions, LIR and aircraft loading procedures.
  • Good understanding of airport safety, security, SOP, SLA and DGR requirements.
  • Valid driving license; valid Airside Driving Permit (ADP) is an advantage.
  • Good communication skills in English; Arabic language skills will be an added advantage.
  • Strong team leadership, staff allocation, coordination and shift management skills.
  • Good incident reporting, problem-solving and operational decision-making abilities.
  • Strong Health & Safety awareness with commitment to aviation safety standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced airport/ramp environment and under pressure.
  • Willingness to work rotational shifts, including day/night shifts, weekends and public holidays.
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting/handling heavy baggage and equipment as required.
  • Candidates with experience in airline ground handling, airport services or aviation support operations will be preferred.
