Job summary

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is recruiting an experienced supervisor to train and examine RSAF Typhoon technical staff in ground handling, refuelling and flight servicing. You will ensure continuing airworthiness and safety within the RSAF framework while delivering structured training to engineers and aircrew.

The role requires an HNC or equivalent, proven supervisory experience in a military flying unit, and a formal aircraft engineering apprenticeship.

Qualifications

  • Must have HNC level or recognised equivalent or related workplace training.
  • Demonstrable supervisory experience in a busy military flying unit.
  • Must have completed a recognised aircraft engineering apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Experience with ESS and a formal ‘Q’ annotation.
  • Extensive post-qualification experience in military fast jet maintenance at supervisor level.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance activities on Typhoon aircraft within the training scope.
  • Supervise and coordinate training activities for RSAF Typhoon technical staff.
  • Deliver lectures and structured training to GA/F personnel as required.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, governance and airworthiness frameworks.
  • Evaluate trainees and provide extra training to those not meeting standards.

JOB PURPOSE

BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The purpose of this job is to train and examine PC and RSAF Typhoon technical staff in the ground handling, refuelling and flight servicing of the Typhoon aircraft system in order to ensure that continuing airworthiness and first line maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with the RSAF Regulatory Framework.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Performing maintenance activities on Typhoon aircraft.
  • Ensuring that all personnel engaged in activities in his Area of Responsibility follow the correct practices and observe safety precautions thereby complying with the requirements and limitations detailed in the Salam Support Safety Case Report.
  • Ensuring that no one is exposed to any unnecessary or uncontrolled risk in his Area of Responsibility, as far as is reasonably practicable.
  • Performing maintenance activities in a continuing airworthiness and maintenance governance framework
  • Perform FOD control measures as directed by management.
  • Comply with Safety Management Systems and Maintenance Error Management Systems.
  • Performing aircraft handling and flight line activities when required.
  • Training of Squadron (AGF) engineering personnel in the ground handling, fuelling and flight servicing of Typhoon aircraft.
  • Training of Squadron (AGF) aircrew to carry out flight servicing specifically the Aircrew Landaway Flight Servicing Schedule (ALFSS).
  • Providing extra training for personnel who fail to meet required standards.
  • Assist in the Training activities of AGF Personnel , including but not limited to lectures and other associated training activities.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
  • Must be educated to HNC level or recognised equivalent or have relevant experience supported by formal, recorded workplace applied related training.
  • Demonstrable experience working as a supervisor conducting Training Activities on a busy, military operational flying unit.
  • Must have completed a recognised aircraft engineering apprenticeship in industry/military or similar qualification in aircraft systems.
  • Must have previous ESS experience with a formal ‘Q’ annotation.
  • Must have substantial post qualification experience of military fast jet maintenance support, at Supervisor level, within an operational military flying environment.
  • Good level of interpersonal skill to co-ordinate a number of activities and the ability to communicate, influence and direct decision making.
  • Good understanding of company processes and procedures and industry knowledge.
  • Fluent in English
  • An understanding of engineering operations procedures within a Maintenance environment.
  • Proven Managerial experience within the aerospace industry preferably gained on 3 rd and/or 4 th Generation military aircraft at Supervisor level or equivalent.
  • Experience of working in the aviation industry in a Gulf Coast Country preferred.
  • The ability to act upon his own initiative within the scope of his job.
  • A conscientious approach to work and meticulous attention to detail.
  • A track record of meeting strict deadlines without compromising standards and quality.
