Job summary

Alstom is seeking a Telecommunications Engineer to lead the design and delivery of railway telecom systems. You will collaborate with signaling, SCADA, power, trackwork, rolling stock, and other disciplines to ensure integrated solutions.

You will prepare and review architecture, interfaces, and documentation to meet project requirements. Responsibilities include coordinating interfaces with supporting systems, FAT/SAT procedures, and stakeholder communications throughout the project lifecycle

Qualifications

  • Degree and understanding of railway telecom systems design and delivery.
  • Experience with international railway standards and telecom integration.
  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary project coordination in railway infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in preparing system architecture, network topology, and technical solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of railway telecommunications systems.
  • Prepare system architecture, network topology, and technical solutions.
  • Design telecom sub-systems (CTN, CCTV, PAS, PIDS, ACS, Radio, TEL, MCS, ETEL).
  • Prepare and review design reports, ICDs, SLDs, cable routing, BOMs, PBS/WBS.

"Take on a new challenge and apply your telecommunications engineering expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside innovative and collaborative teammates.
You'll lead the design and delivery of advanced railway telecommunications systems, driving impactful solutions that enhance connectivity and efficiency in transportation. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Signaling Systems, SCADA Systems, Power Supply Systems, Trackwork, Rolling Stock, Building Management Systems, Civil Engineering, and Cybersecurity), prepare and review technical documentation, and ensure seamless integration of telecom interfaces—and much more"

  • Leading the design and delivery of railway telecommunications systems.,
  • Preparing system architecture, network topology, and technical solutions.,
  • Designing Telecom sub-systems, including Fiber Optic Backbone (CTN), CCTV, Public Address System (PAS), Passenger Information Display Systems (PIDS), Access Control Systems (ACS), Radio Communications (TETRA/GSM-R/LTE/NR), Telephony (TEL), Master Clock (MCS), and Intercom (ETEL).,
  • Preparing and reviewing design reports, Interface Control Documents (ICD), System Architecture Drawings, Single Line Diagrams (SLD), Cable Routing Plans, Equipment Layout Drawings, Bill of Quantities (BOQ), Material Submittals, and PBS/WBS.,
  • Coordinating telecom interfaces with systems such as signaling, SCADA, power supply, trackwork, rolling stock, building management systems (BMS), civil works, cybersecurity, quality & risk management, and RAMS.,
  • Reviewing partner submittals, RFIs, and drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements.,
  • Preparing and/or reviewing Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) procedures.,
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated and innovative solutions.,
  • Ensuring adherence to international railway standards and telecom systems integration best practices.,
  • Managing stakeholders and maintaining clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
