Job Purpose:
- Lead procurement and supplier management for all Botanica business units: plants and trees (local and imported), growing inputs (fertilizers, crop protection, substrates, pots), irrigation materials, equipment, fleet, spares and services.
- The role ensures the right quality at the right cost and time, in compliance with Botanica and RSG Group procurement policy, with fair and ethical treatment of suppliers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Build the annual procurement plan from the approved budgets of Production, Nursery Operations, Landscape Maintenance and support functions.
- Develop category strategies: plants and trees, agricultural inputs, irrigation, equipment and fleet, and services.
- Aggregate demand and set framework and rate agreements for recurring items.
Sourcing & Purchasing
- Run the full cycle: requisition, RFQ or tender, technical and commercial evaluation, negotiation and purchase order.
- Apply competitive sourcing and the Delegation of Authority to every purchase.
- Source imported plants from qualified international suppliers (e.g. Italy, Spain, Australia, Thailand, China, UAE, South Africa).
- Pre-qualify suppliers and join Production on site visits, inspection and tagging before order confirmation.
- Manage lead times, freight and customs clearance through the bonded facility, with phytosanitary documents checked by Biosecurity.
Maintain the approved vendor list; qualify, evaluate and review supplier performance.
Manage supplier contracts, claims and disputes; develop local suppliers where possible.
Cost Control & Compliance
- Track savings, price benchmarks and spend by category and business unit.
- Enforce procurement policy, ethics, conflict-of-interest and anti-bribery controls (ISO 37301); keep audit-ready records.
- Agree reorder levels for consumables with stores and Nursery Operations to prevent stock-outs of critical inputs.
Leadership
- Lead the procurement team (2 FTE per OD Finalized); set objectives, KPIs and development plans.
- Deliver the fixed responsibilities of a Section Head (Section 11.2).
- Follow and enforce all relevant Botanica and RSG Group policies, delegation of authority (DoA), processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled, auditable and consistent manner.
Safety, Quality & Environment
- Apply and champion the safety, quality and environmental management system (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and the compliance management system (ISO 37301) to ensure employee safety, legislative compliance, high-quality products and services, and a responsible environmental attitude.
- Identify and lead opportunities to improve the department’s systems, processes and practices against international best practice, with a focus on cost reduction, productivity improvement and client value.
Job Requirements:
Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or Agriculture; CIPS or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum 12 years in procurement, of which at least 5 years managing a procurement team.
- Experience in agricultural, horticultural, landscape or construction procurement, including international imports.
Skills:
- Negotiation, tendering and bid evaluation.
- Supplier contract management and import and customs procedures.
- Spend analysis and ERP procurement modules.
- Fluent Arabic and English.
Job Context:
- Procurement directly affects plant quality, production timelines and margins. Imported plants carry long lead times and biosecurity risk, and late or poor-quality stock cannot be fixed quickly.
- The role must balance cost, quality, lead time and compliance, and raise supply risks early rather than after a delay hits a client.
