Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking an experienced Inventory Planner to support its SPM Oil & Gas parts business. The role focuses on optimizing inventory availability, minimizing shortages, and driving ERP-driven control across multiple sites.

Collaboration with sales, operations, and customer-facing teams is essential to ensure parts availability at the right time. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years in inventory planning, strong analytical skills, and experience with ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in supply chain, logistics, business administration or related field.
• 4+ years in Inventory Planning, Materials Planning, Demand Planning or similar role.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP and/or Syteline.
• Forecasting, demand planning, inventory optimization and stock control experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing excess inventory.
• Monitor, analyze, and maintain inventory accuracy using ERP systems.
• Support parts sales by ensuring timely availability of critical components.
• Develop forecasting and demand planning models to support business needs.
• Identify shortages, excess inventory, and supply risks; implement corrective actions.
• Generate inventory reports and provide recommendations to improve stock control and performance.
• Coordinate with supply chain, procurement, warehousing, and operations for replenishment.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and drive root-cause analyses to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure compliance with internal inventory control procedures and best practices.
• Communicate inventory status, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Travel to multiple customer and operational sites as required.
