The Senior Road Network Engineer will help maintain the safety, availability, and operational resilience of highways, urban streets, intersections, transit corridors, and associated infrastructure across a large city environment. The position combines traditional highway engineering with real-time traffic operations, ITS technology, asset management, and event mobility planning. The engineer will use traffic telemetry, field inspections, maintenance information, and centralized monitoring systems to identify congestion, infrastructure defects, operational risks, and emerging network constraints. Close coordination with Traffic Management Centers, emergency services, contractors, security teams, public transport operators, parking operations, and technology specialists will enable rapid response while supporting long-term network performance improvements.
The role requires a Saudi National holding a bachelor 's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Highway Engineering, Traffic Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline. Candidates should bring at least 10 years of professional experience across highway engineering, road maintenance, traffic operations, transportation engineering, ITS, or infrastructure operations. A minimum of two years supporting giga-projects, major municipalities, smart cities, large destinations, or similarly complex urban environments is expected. Active membership or registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers is required. Strong technical knowledge of traffic flow, highway capacity, congestion management, intersection operations, pavement maintenance, road safety, and Intelligent Transportation Systems is important. Relevant experience should include traffic signal control, CCTV, Variable Message Signs, traffic detectors, telemetry, roadside sensors, and smart traffic technologies. Practical exposure to Temporary Traffic Management plans, diversions, detours, lane closures, major-event mobility, road condition assessments, rehabilitation programs, and lifecycle maintenance will be valuable. Candidates should understand AASHTO guidance alongside applicable Saudi transportation, municipality, MOTLS, and road safety requirements. Experience with VISSIM or comparable traffic modelling software is expected, while exposure to Aimsun, Synchro, GIS, CMMS, pavement management systems, and digital reporting platforms will strengthen suitability.
