Job summary

IDOM in Riyadh is seeking a Senior Road Engineer to join our Project and Construction Management team within the Infrastructure Division. You will lead technical control of road works, manage quality control, revisions of drawings and construction methods, and coordinate with structures, drainage, ITS and materials disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with road design specialization.
• Formal affiliations: RICS, IQS, ICES, or CIOB.
• Over 15 years in project management on mega construction projects as a consultant.
• Experience on ROAD projects; strong knowledge of road design and safety standards.
• Fluent English; Arabic is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Technical control of all roads works and coordination with other disciplines.
• Resolve design issues and coordinate with home office support.
• Advise on design changes and supervise contractor submissions.
• Review drawings, schedules and materials for compliance with design concepts.
• Assess and report value engineering proposals.
• Act as liaison between Road Engineering and Technical Manager.

Job description

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Road Engineer to join our Project and Construction Management team in Riyadh. This opportunity lies within our Infrastructure Division and requires specific expertise in working on Civil Engineering and Transportation projects, particularly those involving roads, highways, bridges, and tunnels in urban environments. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating all technical aspects related to road works, including quality control, drawing revision, value engineering and technical construction method revision and follow up. You should coordinate with all the other relevant senior specialties such as structures, drainage, ITS and material, among others.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Main descriptions of the job position:

• Technical control of all roads works as well as coordination with all other discipline specialists and with the persons responsible for quality control.
• Amplifies or resolves design issues, where possible, or coordinates design issue with home office support.
• Advises technically on design changes.
• Oversees the Contractor’s technical submissions, shop drawings, materials, and design submissions.
• Final Review of all Contractor’s relevant drawings, schedules, or materials submittals to ensure compliance with the overall objectives of the design concepts of the project.
• Assessment and reporting technically on any Value Engineering proposals.
• Act as Point of contact between the Road Engineering department and the Technical Manager.

ABOUT YOU

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, with specialty/majoring in Road Design and/or equivalent work experience.
• Formal qualifications/affiliations to RICS, IQS, ICES, or CIOB.
• Applicable Experience: over 15 years in project management, particularly in mega construction projects mainly as a Consultant. Candidates with exclusive contractors experience will not be taken into consideration.
• At least experience in 1 or more projects of ROADS. Candidates without clear ROAD experience will not be taken into consideration.
• Understanding of construction, design and engineering principles.
• Understanding of local building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Proficiency level of English language. Arabic Language is a plus.
• Report writing skills, social skills, communication, teamwork, problem solving, autonomy, flexibility, and technical rigor.
• Willingness to work in a multinational environment firm.

Additional requirements:

• Transferable Iqama in case of non-Saudi.
• Based in Riyadh.
• Valid SCE membership.
