Job summary

IDOM is seeking a Senior Structural/Bridges Engineer to join the Project and Construction Management team in Riyadh, focusing on civil engineering and transportation projects including roads, highways, bridges and tunnels in urban settings.

You will coordinate all structural design and construction aspects, revise methods, and guide modification proposals for structures and bridges, reporting to the Technical Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with Structural Design specialty.
• Formal affiliations to RICS, IQS, ICES, or CIOB.
• Over 15 years in mega construction projects, mainly as a consultant.
• Bridges experience on at least one project; contractors-only experience not considered.
• English proficiency required; Arabic a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee technical control of all structural works and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Advise on design changes and resolve issues with home office support.
• Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, materials, and design submissions.
• Ensure final compliance with project design concepts and objectives.
• Assess Value Engineering proposals and document findings.
• Coordinate with other supervision teams and report to Technical Manager.
• Act as liaison between structural engineering and project management.

Job description

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural/Bridges Engineer to join our Project and Construction Management team in Riyadh.

This opportunity lies within our Infrastructure Division and requires specific expertise in working on Civil Engineering and Transportation projects, particularly those involving roads, highways, bridges, and tunnels in urban environments. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating all technical aspects related to structural design and construction across the project, including revision and recommendation of potential modification, method statements and construction methodology for structures and bridges.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Main descriptions of the job position:

• Technical control of all structural works as well as coordination of all other discipline specialists and with the persons responsible for quality control.
• Amplifies or resolves design issues, where possible, or coordinates design issues with home office support.
• Advises technically on design changes.
• Oversees and coordinates the review of the Contractor’s technical submissions, shop drawings, materials, and design submissions.
• Final review of all Contractor’s review drawings, schedules, or materials submittals to ensure compliance with the overall objectives of the design concepts of the project.
• Assessment and technical reporting on any Value Engineering proposals.
• Coordination with any other supervision services team.
• Acts as point of contact between the structural engineering department and the Technical Manager.

ABOUT YOU

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, with specialty/majoring in Structural Design and/or equivalent work experience).
• Formal qualifications/affiliations to RICS, IQS, ICES, or CIOB.
• Applicable Experience: over 15 years in project management, particularly in mega construction projects, mainly as a Consultant. Candidates with exclusive contractors experience will not be taken into consideration.
• At least experience in 1 or more projects of BRIDGES. Candidates without clear BRIDGES experience will not be taken into consideration.
• Understanding of construction, design and engineering principles.
• Understanding of local regulations, and safety standards.
• Proficiency level of English language. Arabic Language is a plus.
• Report writing skills, social skills, communication, teamwork, problem solving, autonomy, flexibility, and technical rigor.
• Willingness to work in a multinational environment firm.

Additional requirements:

• Transferable Iqama in case of non-Saudi.
• Based in Riyadh.
• Valid SCE membership.
