Job summary

IDOM Consulting, Engineering, Architecture in Riyadh seeks a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead technical control of civil works, oversee design coordination, and ensure compliance on roads, highways, bridges and tunnels within mega projects.

You will coordinate with road structures, drainage and materials teams, ensure safety standards, and drive value engineering while working in a multinational environment. Based in Riyadh with transferable iqama.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in Construction Management or Road Design or equivalent experience.
• Formal affiliations with professional bodies such as RICS, IQS, ICES or CIOB.
• Over 15 years of project management experience on mega construction projects, mainly as a consultant.
• Experience on ROAD projects is essential; contractor-only experience is insufficient.
• Transferable iqama and based in Riyadh are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical control of civil works and coordinate with other discipline specialists and quality control.
• Address design issues and coordinate with home office support.
• Advise on design changes and oversee contractor submissions.
• Review contractor drawings, schedules and materials for design intent and compliance.
• Assess and report Value Engineering proposals.
• Act as liaison between Road Engineering and Technical Manager.

Job description

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Engineer to join our Project and Construction Management team in Riyadh. This opportunity lies within our Infrastructure Division and requires specific expertise in working on Civil Engineering and Transportation projects, particularly those involving roads, highways, bridges, and tunnels in urban environments. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating all technical aspects related to civil works (excavation, trenching, earth works, paving and similar activities), such as quality control, drawing revision, value engineering and technical construction method revision and follow up. You should coordinate with all the other relevant senior specialties such as roads structures, drainage and materials, among others.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Main descriptions of the job position:

• Technical control of all civil works as well as coordination with all other discipline specialists and with the persons responsible for quality control.
• Amplifies or resolves design issues, where possible, or coordinates design issue with home office support.
• Advises technically on design changes.
• Oversees the Contractor’s technical submissions, shop drawings, materials, and design submissions.
• Final Review of all Contractor’s relevant drawings, schedules, or materials submittals to ensure compliance with the overall objectives of the design concepts of the project.
• Assessment and reporting technically on any Value Engineering proposals.
• Act as Point of contact between the Road Engineering department and the Technical Manager.

ABOUT YOU

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, with specialty/majoring in Construction Management or Road Design and/or equivalent work experience.
• Formal qualifications/affiliations to RICS, IQS, ICES, or CIOB.
• Applicable Experience: over 15 years in project management, particularly in mega construction projects mainly as a Consultant. Candidates with exclusive contractors experience will not be taken into consideration.
• At least experience in 1 or more projects of ROADS. Candidates without clear ROAD experience will not be taken into consideration.
• Understanding of construction, design and engineering principles.
• Understanding of local regulations, and safety standards.
• Proficiency level of English language. Arabic Language is a plus.
• Report writing skills, social skills, communication, teamwork, problem solving, autonomy, flexibility, and technical rigor.
• Willingness to work in a multinational environment firm.

Additional requirements:

• Transferable Iqama in case of non-Saudi.
• Based in Riyadh.
• Valid SCE membership.
