Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Saudi Arabia seeks a Senior Mechanical SME to lead technical authority across design, construction, testing, and handover of bridge-related and infrastructure mechanical systems.

You will review designs, supervise manufacturers and contractors, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure compliance with international standards, project requirements, and safety practices, delivering reliable, maintainable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or Engineering Management is preferred.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PE) status is highly desirable.
• Membership with recognized institutions such as IMechE, ASME, or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead Mechanical SME for the Clients.
• Provide technical guidance to project management, engineering, construction, and commissioning teams.
• Review and validate mechanical designs, specifications, calculations, and submissions.
• Ensure systems are designed and constructed per requirements, standards, and client guidelines.
• Lead technical reviews and recommend improvements for performance, reliability and maintainability.
• Review design packages for compliance with standards and specs.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, ITS, utility, traffic and architectural disciplines.
• Resolve design conflicts and interface issues.
• Support value engineering and design optimization.
• Monitor construction activities and verify installation quality.
• Review contractor method statements and installation procedures.
• Lead mechanical testing and commissioning activities including FAT/SAT.
• Ensure integration with electrical, SCADA, and control systems.
• Assist in handover and operational readiness reviews.
• Ensure compliance with project quality plans, ITPs, audits, NCRs, and quality reviews.
• Review spare parts requirements and maintenance documentation.
