Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Saudi Arabia seeks a senior Materials SME to act as the technical authority for construction materials, quality compliance, testing, and material engineering across bridge and transportation assets.

You will lead material specifications, review submittals, develop compliance workflows, supervise laboratory testing, and mentor project teams to ensure durability, performance, and safe, compliant delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil materials engineering or related field.
• Master's degree in materials/structural engineering desirable.
• PE/CEng or equivalent certification preferred.
• Membership of professional institutions is advantageous.
• Minimum 15 years of materials engineering and quality management experience.
• 10+ years on major bridge and transportation projects.
• Experience overseeing material compliance for large USD projects.
• GCC/Saudi Arabia project experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Act as principal Materials Engineering authority for projects.
• Review and approve material specs, submittals and testing requirements.
• Lead resolution of complex material-related issues during execution.
• Develop material approval workflows and compliance tracking.
• Establish project-wide material testing requirements and QA protocols.
• Review test plans, laboratory procedures and results.
• Support procurement teams in technical material evaluations.
• Advise on durability design and lifecycle performance.
• Provide technical support during material installation and QA/QC activities.
• Mentor and lead multidisciplinary project teams.
