Job summary

KEO International Consultants in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to deliver independent technical reviews of electrical design submissions, ensure code compliance and coordinate with BIM teams.

Responsibilities

Our newest opportunity is for a talented Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team based in Riyadh, KSA,

The position is responsible for providing an independent technical review of electrical design submissions, including power distribution, lighting, low-current, fire alarm, and life safety systems, to ensure code compliance, technical adequacy, constructability, and multidisciplinary coordination.

We envisage success in this role to include;

Electrical Design Stage Reviews

• Review contractor electrical design submissions across Pre-Concept, Concept, Schematic, Detailed Design, and IFC stages.
• Review, revise, and approve load schedules, single-line diagrams, short-circuit calculations, voltage drop calculations, lighting calculations, and low-current system architectures.
• Conduct Peer Reviews when requested by the Client for electrical designs prepared by Client-appointed designers.

Code & Regulatory Conformance

• Verify compliance with Saudi Electrical Code (SBC 401/801), SEC standards, SASO, NFPA and local authority regulations.
• Confirm that electrical rooms, substation spaces, cable tray routes, and panel locations satisfy spatial and maintenance requirements.
• Evaluate electrical system constructability, safety, and energy efficiency (lighting power density), recommend improvements.

Integration, BIM & Stage Gate Approvals

• Coordinate electrical interfaces with mechanical (HVAC power/BMS), civil, structural, and architectural design leads.
• Participate in BIM clash detection to resolve containment, lighting, and equipment spatial conflicts.
• Support stage-gate approvals, risk tracking, and technical evaluation of electrical design modifications.

Site Supervision & Technical Oversight

• Supervise site installation of electrical equipment, switchgear, transformers, generators, cable containment, lighting, and low-current systems.
• Ensure electrical works strictly comply with SEC standards, SBC 401/801, Saudi Civil Defense requirements, and licensing regulations.
• Provide technical support, resolve site coordination queries, and review drawing modifications.

Submittals, Inspections & Testing/Commissioning

• Review and approve electrical shop drawings, material submittals, factory test reports, and method statements.
• Conduct site inspections, establish hold points, and witness field testing (insulation resistance, earthing, primary injection).
• Establish testing & commissioning schedules, overseeing testing and energization procedures alongside operator teams.

BIM Integration, As-Builts & DLP Management

• Ensure electrical updates are integrated into the BIM model; review and approve model-extracted As-Built drawings.
• Review electrical O&M manuals, test dossiers, spare parts lists, and manufacturer warranties.
• Prepare electrical snagging lists, verify outstanding work completion, and supervise defect rectifications during DLP.

Essential Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.
• Experience Level: 12+ years recommended in electrical and low-current design and design review.
• Professional Registration: Registered with the Saudi Council of Engineers, or other relevant professional regulatory bodies, as applicable.

Core Competencies

• Expertise in electrical design software (ETAP, Dialux, Revit MEP, Navisworks).
• Comprehensive knowledge of SEC guidelines, SBC 401, NFPA and SASO standards.
• Proficiency in power distribution, emergency standby systems, low-current systems (ICT, CCTV, Access Control), and fire alarm design.
• Strong analytical, inter-disciplinary coordination, and technical writing capabilities.
