Job Summary

The Senior Architect leads the architectural design activities of projects of medium complexity in the design center. The jobholder ensures an effective and aesthetic architectural design for projects, which accommodates the requirements of the client, local authorities, architectural standards and codes of practice and the requirements of other disciplines. The Senior Architect develops schematic designs, detailed designs and participates in the preparation of tender documents for design projects. He shall stay abreast of the latest trends and developments in the [specialty] design field and represent the firm and share his expertise and knowledge with other team members.

Support Project Managers with the management of client relations and expectations, as needed

Support Project Managers in client presentations and workshops, as needed

Support Project Managers with the responding to client clarifications and technical issues, as needed

Ensure client satisfaction with Buildings design deliverables

Key Responsibilities (Internal Business Process)

Support the collection of internally available data to support project execution

Lead discussions with clients to determine criteria guiding design, including budgets, preferences, etc.

Lead small teams of junior engineers, as needed

Coordinate with the concept design teams for concept designs of medium to high complexity projects, as needed

Refine selected design options into schematic and draft final designs, including all required drawings and reports

Coordinate with other design specializations (e.g. Structural, Mechanical, Water & Environment) to coordinate design requirements across disciplines for Building design projects of high complexity across all design stages (schematic, detailed), as needed

Closely work with stakeholders for design value engineering for projects of medium to high complexity, as needed

Closely work with Project Managers for the review and validation of design deliverables with clients and authorities, capturing feedback and obtaining approvals, as needed

Closely work with the Quantity Surveying Department for the development of tender documents, including specifications, Bills of Quantities and Conditions of Contract, and provide support during the tender process, as needed

Key Responsibilities (Learning & Growth)

Support Project Managers in developing, reviewing and updating work programs and man-hour estimates and in managing changes in project scope, schedule or budgets, as needed.

Support Project Managers in managing project budgets, resource allocation and project schedules, as needed.

Support Project Managers in managing project contractual risks, as needed.

Support Project Managers in managing external suppliers and subcontracts and in ensuring the adherence of their deliverables with the project scope, schedule and budget.

Assist Project Managers in monitoring and managing the projects’ budget and schedule, as needed.

Provide support to Project Managers in developing periodic progress reports, as needed.

Assist Project Managers with implementing quality control policies and procedures on design deliverables and conduct peer review on team members’ deliverables.

Support during the supervision stage, as needed, including responding to RFIs and solving Buildings design conflicts, in coordination with local design support teams.

Upload design deliverables into the knowledge management repository as per policies and procedures

Attend periodic training to further develop relevant skills

Qualification, Technical Skills and Competencies

Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture

Master’s Degree in Architecture or related field is preferred

• 15+ years of industry experience in architectural design, particularly in Hospitality Project: 7 & 5 Star Hotel Projects, Resorts, Museum and Luxury Apartment & Villa's design.

Specific Experience Required to Execute this Role

15+ years of experience in architecture in a top tier regional/multinational engineering consultancy firm

Strong experience and track record in developing architectural design for large and complex Hospitality Project: 7 & 5 Star Hotel Projects, Resorts, Museum and Luxury Apartment & Villa's related projects

Experience in architectural design

Exposure to global best practices and trends in the architectural design, in particular related to Hospitality Project: 7 & 5 Star Hotel Projects, Resorts, Museum and Luxury Apartment & Villa's design

Experience in the Middle East is preferred
