Job summary

Misk Schools is seeking a dedicated School Counsellor to support students with mental health needs. You will liaise with parents, teachers, and external specialists to assess, plan, and deliver effective interventions in a school setting.

Role requires strong counselling expertise, excellent communication, and a collaborative approach with staff and safeguarding teams. Prior experience in education and constant CPD are valued for ongoing development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent vocational qualification for counsellors.
• +2 years’ counselling experience in a school setting or equivalent.
• Evidence of consistently outstanding pastoral care.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with students, their parents, the academic team, and external support agencies to lead and support assessment and treatment of students with mental health needs.
• Use a multidisciplinary approach to work within the context of the child's life.
• Provide counselling sessions regularly with identified/referred students.
• Communicate with head counsellor and safeguarding lead on students of concern.
• Provide specialist psychotherapeutic assessments to determine appropriate treatment.
