Job summary

Batterjee Medical College is seeking a qualified Safety Officer to ensure a safe working and learning environment across the College. The role covers occupational health and safety compliance, fire prevention and protection systems, risk assessments, emergency preparedness, incident investigation, and safety training for staff and students.

The successful candidate will have a Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or related field, with 3–5 years of experience, and certifications such as

Qualifications

• Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
• Prefer NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA or equivalent certifications.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant Safety experience.
• Experience in fire safety, risk assessment, emergency response and incident investigation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, policies and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct safety inspections of classrooms, labs, offices and facilities.
• Perform risk assessments and maintain risk registers; follow up corrective actions.
• Manage fire protection systems, alarms, extinguishers and emergency lighting.
• Lead emergency drills, evacuation procedures and safety training.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses; identify root causes.

Job description

Batterjee Medical College is seeking a qualified and proactive Safety Officer to ensure a safe working and learning environment across the College The successful candidate will be responsible for occupational health and safety compliance fire prevention and protection systems workplace inspections risk assessments emergency preparedness incident investigation and safety awareness The role requires a hands‑on safety professional capable of identifying hazards implementing corrective actions and promoting a strong safety culture across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety policies procedures and applicable regulatory requirements
• Conduct regular safety inspections across classrooms laboratories offices technical areas and other facilities
• Conduct risk assessments identify workplace hazards maintain risk registers and follow up on corrective actions
• Monitor and manage fire protection systems including fire extinguishers alarm and detection systems emergency lighting hoses hydrants and suppression systems
• Coordinate periodic inspection testing maintenance and certification of fire safety systems
• Identify and control fire and workplace hazards including electrical risks flammable materials and blocked emergency routes
• Lead and coordinate emergency response evacuation procedures fire drills and emergency preparedness activities
• Investigate accidents incidents and near misses identify root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions
• Monitor high‑risk activities including hot work electrical work and maintenance activities and ensure appropriate safety precautions and permits are in place
• Conduct safety awareness and training sessions for employees and students
• Monitor contractor compliance with occupational health safety and fire protection requirements
• Maintain accurate records of inspections incidents corrective actions equipment checks training and emergency drills
• Support internal and external safety audits and ensure documentation remains audit‑ready
• Coordinate with Maintenance Security Administration contractors and relevant regulatory authorities on safety matters
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve safety systems procedures and organizational safety culture

Diploma degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Engineering, Industrial Safety , or a related field.Valid professional classification under the Saudi Occupational Safety and Health Cadres ( ) u2013 Mandatory.Certification in Fire Safety and/or Occupational Safety . NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or other relevant professional safety certifications are preferred.Minimum 3u20135 years of relevant experience in Occupational Health & Safety.Practical experience in fire safety, risk assessment, emergency response, incident investigation, and workplace safety inspections .Experience within higher education, healthcare, or large institutional facilities is preferred.Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety principles and practices.Strong knowledge of fire protection systems, fire prevention, and hazard control.Risk assessment and hazard identification skills.Emergency response and incident management capabilities.Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.Ability to conduct safety training, drills, and awareness programs.Strong documentation and audit‑readiness skills.Ability to make sound decisions during emergency situations.Strong communication, coordination, and leadership skills.High level of responsibility, vigilance, and attention to detail.Good communication skills in Arabic and English .Mandatory Requirement Applicants must hold a valid professional classification in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH Cadres / ).
