Job summary

Stafford Lawrence is seeking a Project Director – Electrical & Specialist Systems for a FIFA World Cup stadium project in Saudi Arabia. You will lead the electrical sub-package delivery, including HV/MV/LV power, life safety, and venue security, coordinating with Client, PMC and sub-contractors to achieve on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate will have 20–25+ years in engineering, with 10+ years in senior leadership on mega stadiums, and a strong Main Contractor background with FIDIC contract

Qualifications

• 20–25+ years total engineering experience with at least 10+ years in senior leadership roles (Project Director / Senior Project Manager).
• Major stadium or international sports venue delivery track record mandatory (FIFA World Cup, Olympic Games, UEFA, AFC).
• Strong Main Contractor background with delivery on complex construction sites.
• Mega-project experience valued at SAR 3 Billion+.
• Solid understanding of FIDIC contracts, project controls, testing & commissioning, and stakeholder management.
• GCC / KSA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Strategic leadership of project execution from construction through testing and commissioning, operational readiness and handover.
• Direct oversight of electrical infrastructure: HV/MV/LV distribution, substations, generators, UPS, lighting, and stadium floodlighting.
• Ensure seamless integration of ELV, ICT, CCTV, site security, BMS, and event systems.
• Coordinate with Client, PMC, supervision consultants, designers, local authorities and subcontractors.
• Manage project risks, commercial performance, procurement, schedule, quality and HSE compliance.
• Lead and motivate a large multi-disciplinary on-site team.

The Role & Project

Stafford Lawrence has been retained to source a key project leadership specialist for a major Electrical Subcontract Package on a FIFA 2034 World Cup Stadium in Saudi Arabia.

Executed as part of the sub-contract delivery team, this package encompasses site-wide high/medium voltage power, complex life safety systems, advanced venue security, and FIFA-compliant technical installations. We are seeking senior electrical and building services leaders with direct experience delivering complex electrical sub-packages for major sports infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities & Scope

• Overall Project Delivery: Strategic leadership of project execution from construction through integrated testing & commissioning (T&C), operational readiness, and final handover.

• Electrical & Power Infrastructure: Direct oversight of HV/MV/LV power distribution, substations, emergency generator systems, UPS, lighting, and stadium floodlighting.

• Specialist & Venue Systems Integration: Seamless integration across ELV, ICT, CCTV, site security, BMS, broadcast interfaces, life safety, and specialist event systems.

• Stakeholder Management: Primary interface coordinating with Client, PMC, Supervision Consultants, Designers, Local Authorities, and Specialist Subcontractors.

• Governance & Project Controls: Full management of project risks, commercial performance, FIDIC contracts, procurement, schedule, quality, and HSE compliance.

• Team Leadership: Directing and motivating a large, multi-disciplinary project team on-site.

Key Candidate Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.

• Experience: 20–25+ years of total engineering experience, with at least 10+ years in senior project leadership roles (Project Director / Senior Project Manager).

• Major Stadium Track Record (Mandatory): Proven experience delivering major stadium or international sports venue projects (e.g., FIFA World Cup, Olympic Games, UEFA, or AFC venues).

• Main Contractor Background: Strong Main Contractor experience preferred, managing large-scale delivery on complex construction sites.

• Mega-Project Scale: Experience on mega projects valued at SAR 3 Billion+ is a strong advantage.

• Technical & Commercial Mastery: Solid understanding of FIDIC contracts, project controls, testing & commissioning, and stakeholder management.

• GCC / KSA Experience: Prior experience in Saudi Arabia or the wider GCC region preferred.
