Job summary

ACWA Operations is seeking experienced Performance Engineers to join upcoming opportunities across RO desalination and CCGT power plants in Saudi Arabia. The role involves monitoring, analyzing and improving plant performance, efficiency and availability by evaluating operational data and coordinating with Operations, Maintenance and Chemistry teams.

Candidates should have 4–8 years of relevant experience in RO or CCGT operations, with strong analytical and reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering; postgraduate qualification in Power Plant or Water Treatment Engineering preferred.
• 4–8 years of RO desalination or CCGT plant operations and performance experience; Middle East experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of RO desalination indicators, membrane normalization, and CCGT heat balance/heat rate calculations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze plant performance indicators including energy efficiency, equipment availability, production output and contractual requirements.
• Evaluate RO desalination performance including specific energy consumption, membrane efficiency, recovery rates, water quality and pump performance.
• Analyze CCGT performance including heat rate, thermal efficiency, power output, auxiliary consumption and turbine/condenser performance.
• Identify performance deterioration, investigate root causes and recommend corrective actions to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Support performance testing, data validation, inspections and assessments during planned outages.
• Prepare daily and monthly performance reports, analyze deviations and monitor improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with HSE requirements, Integrated Management System (IMS), environmental standards and contractual obligations.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Chemistry and OEM representatives to implement approved technical improvements and support operational excellence.

Job Specifications

• Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Postgraduate qualification in Power Plant or Water Treatment Engineering is preferred.
• Minimum Experience: 4-8 years of relevant experience in RO desalination or CCGT power plant operations and performance. Experience working in the Middle East is preferred.
• Required Skills: Strong knowledge of RO desalination performance indicators, membrane normalization methods, or CCGT heat balance and heat rate calculations. Experience in plant performance monitoring, operating data validation, trend analysis, and performance testing. Ability to identify efficiency losses, investigate technical issues, and recommend performance improvement solutions. Knowledge of plant HSE requirements, environmental compliance, and Integrated Management Systems. Strong analytical thinking, root cause analysis, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills. Good communication, coordination, and collaboration skills.
