Qualifications

• Basic medical degree from a recognized institution.
• Post-qualification certification from USA/Canada/UK Ireland/Australia NZ or Western Europe equivalents.
• Current and valid medical license to practice.

Responsibilities

• Provides high-quality patient care in Pediatric Gastroenterology according to approved clinical privileges.
• Provides inpatient and emergency consultations and responds promptly per hospital policy.
• Responsible for timely completion and accuracy of medical records.
• Provides on-call service and maintains availability within policy timelines.
• Conducts daily rounds and ensures discharge plans are written 24 hours prior to discharge.
• Performs other clinical responsibilities related to the specialty as assigned.
• Provides orientation and supervision to interns, residents, and fellows as assigned.
• Participates in departmental education, national/international conferences, and continuing education.
• Engages in clinical, basic and translational research per policy.
• Undertakes departmental administrative duties and committee work; supports resource utilization.
• Adheres to bylaws and policies; participates in ongoing education and development.

Summary

Responsible inmanaging nutritional problems in children, including placement and management of feeding tubes and intravenous nutrition and diagnosing and treating infants, children, and teens with liver disease.

Education/Qualifications Required

1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution.
2. Post-qualification certification
   • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
     • USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
     • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (RCPS-C)
     • UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
     • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
     • Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above

Experience Post-Qualifications

• Minimum Three (3) years after board/equivalent certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
• Minimum Five (5) years after board/equivalent certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).

License

Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provides high quality patient care in all aspects of Pediatric Gastroenterology according to his/her approved clinical privileges.
• Provides consultation (inpatient, and emergency room) upon request and responds in a timely manner within the prescribed timeframe as outlined in hospital policy.
• Responsible for the timely completion, competencies, accuracy and eligibility of the medical record.
• Provides on-call service and ensures availability and response time within the prescribed timeframe in accordance with hospital policy.
• Conducts daily morning rounds to identify patients ready for discharge. Ensures that discharge orders are written 24 hours prior to discharge.
• Perform any other clinical responsibilities related to the specialty, as assigned.

Academic Responsibilities

• Provides orientation, bedside training and supervision to interns, residents and fellows as assigned.
• Participates in educational activities and training programs of the department. Partakes in national and international medical conferences.
• Maintains and enhances professional knowledge and continuing education requirements.

Research Responsibilities

• Participates in clinical, basic and translational research projects in accordance with Research Advisory Council Policy in order to advance knowledge, improve the quality of post graduate education and contribute to the national and international recognition of National Guard.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Undertakes the administrative duties assigned by Head of Section or Chairman.
• Participates in all mandatory departmental activities and serves on departmental and hospital committees and other administrative functions, as required.
• Assists the department in the development and implementation of techniques and practices that help maximize the utilization of all resources within the department and across the hospital.
• Abides by the current hospital and medical staff bylaws, all relevant rules, regulations and policies and keeps updated of any changes that might occur.
• Participates in self-and others’ education, training and development as applicable.
• Follows all hospital-related policies and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
