Summary

Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of medical diseases and conditions, as well as the provision of medical care in the field of pediatrics in accordance with the current medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations and the Organization policies and procedures in Saudi Arabia.

Education/Qualifications Required

1. Basic medical degree from a recognized institution.
2. Post‑qualification certification.

   Qualification source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand. USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (RCPS‑C). UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register. Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP). Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above.

Experience Post-Qualifications

• Minimum Three (3) years after board/equivalent certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
• Minimum Five (5) years after board/equivalent certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).

License

• Current and in good standing medical license to practice in country of residence.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Performing the professional duties of a sub‑specialist in accordance with the delineation of the scope of care and privileges as recommended by the Chief of department and approved by the Credentials Committee.
• Performing duties in the outpatient clinic.
• Providing needed care to patients in the wards.
• Performing needed procedures according to privileges.
• Providing consultation services to in‑and out‑patient services in area of expertise.
• Sharing on‑call duties as per duty schedule.
• Supervising work of assistants and/or associate consultants, professional development of junior physicians and interns, and providing evaluation of their work upon request of the Chief of Service.
• Assuring medical documentation and charting is legible and professional, and supervising documentation of rest of team.
• Working closely with colleagues.
• Communicating clearly and effectively with colleagues and patients.
• Working as a team member and sharing administrative responsibilities.
• Undertaking administrative duties whenever needed under direction of division head.
• Providing patient and family education according to patient’s status and needs.
