Job summary

Fakeeh Care is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant for outpatient services. The role involves assembling and dispensing medications under supervision, repackaging oral dosage forms for outpatient dispensing, and maintaining stock levels to ensure uninterrupted pharmacy operations.

The candidate should have 0–2 years of hospital pharmacy experience, a Diploma in Pharmacy, and a license to practice per regional health authorities.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles and dispenses pharmacy medications orders under supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Performs re-packaging of oral dosage forms for outpatient dispensing and labels the repackaged containers.
  • Identifies and handles nearly expired medications, ensures proper storage conditions and maintains required records.
  • Calculates the amount of drug product to prepare for prescriptions and ensures patient safety in medication handling.
  • Maintains stock from the medical stockroom to ensure adequate pharmacy supplies and coordinates with vendors if needed.

Job description

Assembles and Dispenses pharmacy medications orders under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Performs re-packaging of oral dosage forms for outpatient dispensing, labels the re-packed containers with an appropriate record.

Identifies and appropriately handles the nearly expired medications, storage and conditions for drug products and maintains necessary record.

Calculates the amount of the drug product to prepare for a prescription.

Demonstrates knowledge of proper storage & handling of hazardous materials found in her/him workplace, as well as first aid measures necessary for accidental exposure.

Arranges the medications' stocks from medical stockroom to maintain an adequate supply of the stocks in the pharmacy.

Ensures patient safety and safe medication management are practiced at all times.

Demonstrates knowledge of commonly used non-prescription drugs (OTC).

Reports to the pharmacy head any discovered medication errors & ADR.

Enrolls in continuous education program regarding medication management practices, high risk medications, medication errors and others.

Educates patients and their families about health conditions, treatments and preventative measures if applicable.

Outpatient Pharmacy Automation related functions if applicable:

Maintain the stock of the Automated Storage and Retrieval Device in the outpatient pharmacy.

Serves as first line for troubleshooting and coordinates involvement of vendor technical support.

Coordinates automation maintenance, troubleshooting, and downtime.

Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of the job.

Job Purpose:

Provides the outpatients and other customers with the optimum pharmacy services.

Experience:

0 - 2 years experience with hospital pharmacy setting.

Education:

Diploma in pharmacy.

Language:

Good command of oral and written English / Arabic Preferable.

Licenses / Certifications:

License for practice as per the regional health regulatory authority e.g. (SCFHS / DHA)
