Job summary

National Medical Care is seeking an Assist Pharmacist to dispense medications and maintain patient records. The role supports inpatient, IV admixture, and outpatient dispensing under supervision.

The candidate should have a Diploma in Pharmacy and be licensed as a pharmacy technician, with at least two years in a large acute care setting. English fluency is required for diverse patients.

Qualifications

  • Two years or more of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a large acute care pharmacy.
  • Proficient in dispensing medications and patient record handling.
  • Fluency in English for both Arabic and non-Arabic speakers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Pharmacist in dispensing medications and maintaining patient records and charges.
  • Ensure accurate labeling and prompt processing for inpatient, IV admixture and outpatient dispensing.
  • Maintain a neat, stocked pharmacy area and support centralized IV admixture programs.
  • Educate patients and families and document information in patient medical records.
  • Comply with hospital dress code and support additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Job description

Assist Pharmacist in dispensing medications and maintaining appropriate patient records and charges.

Major Duties and Responsibilitie s
  • Ensures through his actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the NMC Hospitals and Clinics
  • Ensures that the dispensing functions in Pharmacy area is complete, by checking the prescription with correct labeling which is already confirmed by the Pharmacist. This is carried out promptly for Inpatient, I.V. Admixture and Outpatient.
  • Ensures that the area is maintained in a neat and clean order and is well stocked in the work in the work area for unit dose and I.V. Admixture
  • Ensures that the dispensing functions in the centralized I.V. Admixture Program, aseptically prepared TPN solutions, injectable chemotherapy, antibiotics and other medications for I.V. therapy are completely labeled (in a proper and prompt manner) under direct supervision of the Pharmacist.
  • Ensures that the floor stock medications are delivered effectively to and from the Inpatient units.
  • Ensures of the 24-hour card-filler preparation.
  • Ensures that the daily dispensed medications are recorded, keep the records and inform the Pharmacist about drugs that are expiring as per department policy.
  • Responsible to educate patients /families as per their needs and to implement their whole role regarding patient / family education process as mention in patient & family education policy and procedure (NSP-GEN-014) including documentation in patient medical record.
  • They are knowledgeable about their essential role in patient and family education.
  • Involves the patient/families in plan of care and respects patients/families regarding their goals and choices of patient care.
  • Provides health promotion and health teaching thru methods appropriate to a patients’ developmental level, learning needs, readiness and ability to learn, language preference, culture and situations.
  • Allots time necessary to assess, plan implement and evaluate patient education provided to patients/families with appropriate documentation.
  • Ensure to comply with the hospital dress code.
  • Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee’s knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Performs additional tasks and duties as assigned by Superior s.

  • Head of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Supervisors.
Qualifications:

A minimum of:

Education:
  • Diploma in Pharmacy ;Licensed Pharmacy Tech., according to laws and regulations;
Experience:

A minimum of :Two (2) years experience or more as a Pharmacy Technician in a Pharmacy of a large acute care.

  • Skills: Proficient in the use and application of new medications and technology.
  • Problem solving ability and analytical thinking preferred.
  • Customer service skills; exhibits professionalism, effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Fluency in verbal and written English for Arabic and Non-Arabic speakers.
