Job summary

Tangent International is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to provide L2 database support for an enterprise BSS environment. You will manage Oracle 19c+ and SQL Server 2017/2019 in production, ensure availability, performance, and security, and partner with BSS teams for migrations and DR testing.

The role emphasizes hands-on expertise in Oracle RAC/Data Guard and SQL Server AG, with strong scripting, change management, and incident handling. Excellent English communication required.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years’ experience in Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server database administration.
• Expert Oracle 19c knowledge, including RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, ASM, partitioning and performance tuning.
• Strong SQL Server knowledge, including Always On AG, SQL Agent and T-SQL.
• Oracle performance diagnostics using AWR, ADDM and ASH.
• SQL Server performance analysis using Query Store.
• Strong PL/SQL and T-SQL scripting capability.
• Hands‑on backup, restore, HA and DR experience.
• Database security knowledge including TDE, auditing and privilege management.
• ITIL awareness covering incident and change management.
• Strong written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Administer Oracle 19c+ and Microsoft SQL Server 2017/2019 production environments.
• Monitor database health and proactively identify performance and capacity issues.
• Troubleshoot L2 incidents including ORA errors, lock contention, space issues, SQL deadlocks and performance degradation.
• Manage Oracle RAC and Data Guard HA/DR environments.
• Support SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and Failover Cluster Instances.
• Perform query optimisation, index management, statistics maintenance and execution plan analysis.
• Manage Oracle RMAN and SQL Server backup and restore operations.
• Administer Oracle ASM, tablespaces and database storage capacity.
• Apply Oracle Critical Patch Updates and SQL Server service packs through established change processes.
• Manage database users, roles, privileges, encryption and auditing.
• Support schema changes, data migrations and database performance tuning alongside BSS application teams.
• Participate in DR testing and database failover/switchover exercises.
• Maintain database documentation, configuration records and CMDB information.
• Respond to database incidents escalated from L1/NOC teams.

The role will focus on the availability, performance, integrity and security of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases supporting Ericsson Billing and wider BSS applications.

The successful candidate will bring strong hands-on Oracle 19c expertise, particularly RAC, Data Guard, ASM, RMAN and performance tuning. Experience supporting Ericsson Billing/BSCS database environments would be highly advantageous.
