Job summary

BYD seeks a protection and control engineer to protect and troubleshoot energy storage systems on site in Saudi Arabia. You will oversee IEDs in BESS containers, review protection settings, run coordination studies, and support testing and commissioning.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and at least 1 year of experience with protection relays (Siemens/ABB/GE/SEL), substation protocols (IEC 61850, Modbus TCP/IP, DNP3), and ETAP.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum 1+ years of experience in protection and control engineering
Strong technical support and troubleshooting skills
Knowledge of protection relays and substation protocols; ETAP proficiency

Responsibilities

System Oversight: Manage protection devices for BESS containers, PCS, and HV substation.
Review and implement protection settings, coordination studies (OC, Distance, Differential).
Lead or supervise secondary injection testing, CT/VT testing, and functional trip tests.
Perform fault analysis and provide technical reports to the client.
Serve as primary technical contact for client regarding protection schemes.
Address on-site issues to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.
Responsible for installation, commissioning, repair, and maintenance of energy storage systems on site.
Comply with site lead's work arrangement
