Job summary

OHLA Group in Saudi Arabia is seeking an experienced MEP Utilities Mechanical Engineer focused on irrigation and water pipelines to lead site activities on major utility infrastructure projects.

You will oversee trenching, pipe laying, HDPE fusion welding, testing, commissioning, and handover, ensuring compliance with drawings, specs, and authority requirements under GCC/KSA standards.

Qualifications

• 10-12 years of overall experience in utility infrastructure
• Minimum 3 completed potable water network projects
• Minimum 3 completed irrigation network projects
• Strong GCC/KSA utility standards knowledge and experience
• HDPE and DI pipeline experience
• Hands-on testing, commissioning and handover of water networks

Responsibilities

• Construction management of potable water and irrigation construction activities
• Ensure works follow drawings, specs and method statements
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and site teams
• Ensure compliance with HSE, quality and environmental requirements
• Planning: prepare short-term and look-ahead programmes
• Monitor productivity and progress, identify delays and mitigate them
• Coordinate interfaces with roadworks, utilities and temporary works
• Technical management: supervise water and irrigation pipeline installation, trenching, bedding, pipe laying and backfilling
• Manage HDPE fusion welding, valve chamber construction and testing/commissioning
• Oversee inspections, WIRs, and quality documentation
• Oversee pipeline flushing and chlorination of potable water systems

We are looking for an experienced MEP Utilities Mechanical Engineer with strong expertise in irrigation and water pipeline infrastructure projects to join our team in Saudi Arabia.

Key Requirements

• 10-12 years of overall experience, including at least 8 years in utility infrastructure projects.
• Minimum 3 successfully completed potable water network projects.
• Minimum 3 successfully completed irrigation network projects.
• Strong GCC experience, with KSA experience preferred.
• Proven experience with HDPE and DI (Ductile Iron) pipelines.
• Hands-on experience in testing, commissioning, and handover of water networks.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Management

• Manage potable water and irrigation construction activities.
• Ensure works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, quality, and environmental requirements.

Planning & Progress

• Prepare short-term and look-ahead programmes.
• Monitor daily and weekly productivity and progress.
• Identify, manage, and mitigate potential delays.
• Coordinate interfaces with roadworks, utilities, and temporary works.

Technical Management

• Supervise water and irrigation pipeline installation activities.
• Ensure proper trenching, bedding, pipe laying, and backfilling.
• Monitor HDPE fusion welding activities.
• Manage valve chamber construction.
• Coordinate testing and commissioning activities.
• Ensure all required inspections are completed.
• Manage WIRs, inspection records, and quality documentation.
• Oversee pipeline pressure testing.
