Job summary

Acwa is seeking a Mechanical Technician for field operations in Saudi Arabia. The role focuses on safe installation, maintenance, inspection and repair of heavy rotating machinery used in power generation, including turbines.

The incumbent will read schematics, dismantle and assemble equipment, move large components with hoists and cranes, and ensure precise alignment and inspections, while adhering to HSSE standards and supporting outage activities.

Qualifications

• Diploma in technical field; gas turbine systems preferred.
• Minimum two years’ experience maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery.
• Willing to travel and work on international sites; HSSE aware.

Responsibilities

• Read schematic drawings and technical documentation to determine proper work procedures.
• Dismantle and assemble machinery and equipment using a variety of hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
• Move machinery, parts and equipment using hoists, cranes, chain falls and trucks.
• Align machinery and equipment using hoists, squares, micrometers, dial indicators or laser alignment.
• Perform machine and component inspections using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, rules, calipers.
• Responsible for control of tools, equipment and supplies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Purpose

The primary responsibility of the Mechanic – Steam and Gas - is to safely accomplish the installation, maintenance, inspection and repair of the heavy rotating machinery used mainly in power generation applications. Turbine Mechanics. Work closely with Supervisors, HSE personnel, and the Operations Department to achieve these goals.

Key Accountabilities

Essential Function

• Read schematic drawings and technical documentation to determine proper work procedures.

Internal: Needs to work closely with the Outage Managers, Field Service Engineers and Supervisors

External: Needs to build a rapport with plant crews and contractors

Qualifications, Experience, & Skills

• Diploma in Technical Field, Gas Turbine Systems Technician preferred
• Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience maintaining, dismantling, and installing machinery and industrial service equipment including various pumps, motors, fans, generators, and turbines.
• Must possess minimum experience for utilization of tooling
• Good understanding of latest technology and innovation
• Knowledge of applicable legal / quality / HSSE requirements
• Good knowledge of power plant operations, maintenance, its equipment’s, practices, procedures
• Willing to travel
• Willing to work on international sites, in hardship locations and shift work
