Job summary

Qualifications

• Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field.
• Experience as Mechanical Technician in manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmission.
• Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints and schematics.
• Proficient with hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong safety compliance and adherence to regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment (presses, conveyors, motors, pumps).
• Diagnose mechanical malfunctions and troubleshoot using drawings and diagnostics tools.
• Execute repairs, overhauls and replacements of defective parts with safety/quality in mind.
• Inspect equipment and identify issues or areas for improvement.
• Assist in installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities, parts used and repairs.
• Collaborate with production/engineering to optimize performance.

This role ensures the efficient and reliable operation of production machinery, minimizing downtime and optimizing performance.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on a variety of mechanical equipment, including presses, conveyors, motors, pumps, and other production machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical malfunctions and effectively troubleshoot issues using blueprints, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
• Execute repairs, overhauls, and replacements of defective parts, ensuring adherence to safety standards and quality control.
• Conduct equipment inspections and identify potential issues or areas for improvement.
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new mechanical equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
• Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, promoting a safe working environment.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to optimize equipment performance and resolve recurring issues.
• Provide support for emergency breakdowns and respond promptly to critical equipment failures.

Job Qualifications

• Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Technician in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in a can manufacturing or similar high-volume production setting.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles, hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmission systems.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Skilled in using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all safety regulations.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
