Marine Logistics Lead
Role Summary
The Marine Logistics Lead is responsible for the strategic oversight and end-to-end management of marine and port logistics operations. This role ensures the optimization of the supply chain, high-level contract negotiation, and the leadership of the logistics team to meet operational demands safely and cost-effectively. The position acts as a primary point of contact for senior management and external partners, driving process
improvements in Oracle/ERP systems and ensuring full compliance with international maritime regulations and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Oversight: Lead and optimize the end-to-end marine logistics workflow, including vessel scheduling and port utilization.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor the Marine Logistics Admin team, ensuring accuracy in sales orders and procurement entries.
- Contract Negotiation: Manage high-value contracts with vessel owners, agents, and port authorities to ensure competitive pricing and service levels.
- Performance Monitoring: Develop and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for logistics efficiency and cost control.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all maritime operations adhere to international safety standards (IMDG, MARPOL) and local port regulations.
- Escalation Management: Serve as the final authority for resolving complex discrepancies in Sales Orders (SOs), Purchase Orders (POs), and invoicing.
- Process Improvement: Drive the implementation of advanced ERP features to automate documentation and reporting.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Coordinate directly with Project Managers and Finance Directors to align logistics with overall company budget and project timelines.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (Master’s
degree preferred)
- 6–10 years of experience in marine logistics or offshore operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Expert Proficiency in Oracle or advanced ERP systems.
- Advanced knowledge of charter parties, bill of lading, and maritime law.
Skills & Competencies
- Strategic Logistics Planning: Ability to design complex vessel schedules and port rotation plans.
- Maritime Law & Compliance: Strong understanding of Charter Parties, Bill of Lading, and International Maritime regulations (IMDG/MARPOL).
- Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to negotiate high-value contracts with vessel owners and port authorities.
- Leadership: Strong capability to manage a diverse team of admins and coordinators across different locations.
- ERP Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Oracle or similar systems for workflow automation and data analysis.
- Decision Making: Ability to make critical decisions under pressure during operational emergencies or vessel delays.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Oversight: Lead the end-to-end marine logistics workflow, optimizing vessel utilization and port stay durations to reduce costs.
- Contract Management: Oversee the lifecycle of marine service contracts, ensuring vendors meet KPIs and addressing any service breaches.
- Team Leadership: Supervise the Marine Logistics Admin team, conducting performance reviews and ensuring all system entries (SOs/POs) are audit-ready.
- Budgetary Control: Monitor logistics expenditures against project budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities in fuel and port fees.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for Project Managers and the Finance department regarding marine logistics status.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all offshore movements and port operations comply with company QHSE standards and international maritime laws.
